***OFFICIAL ILLINOIS AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

These are the games that really highlight how ineffective Tanner is as a passer. Illinois continuing to load the box and force Tanner to make throws, and more often than not, he is not able to make those throws.
Doesn't help that WRs have really struggled to get separation consistently all season long. But with that being said Tanner is really limited as a playmaker and I think PJ has really gotten all that he can out of him.

PLEASE let Simon call the next half.
Really… What good would that do…? Illinois has decided that Tanner Morgan is going to have to beat them… Not looking good so far for the Gophers. Either Morgan gets his head out of his ass in the second half or they lose.

Badly outcoached. Illinois is one step ahead almost every play. They HAVE to start passing on 1st down. Illinois is daring them.

Or you try Annexstad

Two up-and-down teams. Today, they’re up and we’re down. BB’s team is obviously more motivated.

I'm not really an expert by any stretch... but one thing Kill and Fleck seemed to have in common is, "We've got an identity, we're gonna stick to the identity. We're gonna impose our will with this bruising running game." But while it's not like we've got a bunch of jabronies maybe we don't have the talent to be able to stick to that, and not be willing to accept some versatility?

Like, if you're rolling out 6 or 7 on the OL and your two wideouts are not able to get open, maybe we need to adjust and come out with some more 3 or 4 WR sets and see how that goes?

I assume there is is value in staying in your groove, and playing your game, but man, it really seems like it is simply not there today and Bielema and the orange dudes were ready for it today, so adapt!!!

Simon at OC, Anexstad at QB. It can't possibly be worse.

I do not like Bielema, but we are getting out-coached badly today. Morgan is playing as poorly as I have ever seen him play.

I don't think it's the coverage, multiple times now we've watched replays and seen open receivers down field and Morgan throws it away. He's not in it mentally at the moment.

If the D plays like they did the last 2 drives we have a shot, but either Morgan needs his confidence back or someone needs take his place.

Is he not confident on the plays called? Or is this just because of getting sacked a few times?

For people that have been watching this closer, what is going on with routes and the receivers in terms of solutions for second half. Is this all Morgan not making the right reads?
I think its a combination of, the routes that are being called take too much time to develop.

we dont need 20 yard passed, do 5-10 yard routes.
Also Morgans confidence is clearly shook right now, this is what can happen when you shut down your passing game all year anytime when there are a couple drops
PJ has recruited a talented offense and defense this year, sadly he needs to get rid of this silly idea of loyalty and put in someone else at QB if even for a few drive and tell Simon to call fhe plays

Fleck won’t do it in season. They’ll “mutually part ways”.
I know we're all looking to the Smith ---> Rossi example, but i wonder how often firing a coordinator mid-season *actually* results in improved on field performance and not chaos.

What if the Gophers just ran the Cole Kramer package for the rest of the game?

Time to look at the bright side. The team has played well this season on the road and when they've been underdog. If this game ends as expected at this point, they'll have both conditions next weekend.

A championship team mage’s the adjustments at half and rebound and win in the second half. D will be fine as they’ll adjusted. PJ needs to tell Sanford what changes are need to make and light a fire 🔥 under the team’s cans to play like their season depends on it. Paint that Locke room with elite naughty words.

Tanner just doesn't have any deep ball accuracy whatsoever. Agreed that quick hitters are the way to go in addition to leaking out the TE and RBs.

I'm at the game. Not seeing a ton of open receivers. Are you?

It wouldn’t do a darn thing… Unless maybe lighting a fire under peoples asses.

Everyone needs a Plan B, even the best teams when they play the best teams. Minnesota looks terrific when their Plan A is working but terrible when it isn't.
