I had thought there was a good chance he was going to Purdue. I would love to get him...and Holloman. If that happens, Ben Johnson would be off to an incredible start as coach.
We definitely need some good news soon on that front. What Ben needs is for a couple guys like that to step up early and commit. That makes it cool for others to follow and gives them confidence that they will have a chance to develop a winner. Cmon guys- who is going to lead the charge!!??
We would be cooking with gas. The comments from Heide are very encouraging both from chances of getting his commitment and seeing how hard Ben is working on local recruiting.
I am sure Coyle has ideas for where the program needs to be as Johnson's time unfolds. But I also doubt he has a lot of locked in place benchmarks that have to be met. A good AD is constantly evaluating the programs and adjusting expectations year by year.
When was the last time we heard a recruit say he was texting daily with Pitino? #lazyexchoach
Its not over till the fat lady sings, but its going to be unbelievably hard. Purdue is going to probably one of the better teams in the country this year and Minnesota probably won't.
Good chance that Heide and others commit before teams play a game next fall.

Who said this? It certainly wasn't Ben Johnson.
Of course it was not Ben. He sells him on who he is, what he stands for, how he would fit in ball screens, flairs, sides and defense. He can speak in generalizations of hie philosophy and then tweak it for roster versatility. The best coaches make minor adjustments to the core of what gets implemented and practiced. For those that want specifics, good luck. Ben will say little, as it should be.
