Next Gopher Head Coach

18 points at half for Dutcher. Let's get the Porter Mosner rumours ramped up again

I agree. But I still think Muss is a possibility. Based on what I’m seeing from SDSU not sure about Dutcher.
Curious to see how/if Dutcher adjusts in the second half. But what makes you think Muss would leave a currently successful P5 program for a currently below average P5 team in a (supposedly) tougher conference?

Just awful strategy and lack of adjustments by Dutcher. 2 of 20 3’s... hmm where have I seen that before??? 🤔

And yes, I understand it’s one game. Totally understand not hitting shots, but no changes to the offense after 10+ min of no baskets??

I didn’t watch a lot of this game as I was busy working, but I’m not impressed with his sets. When I coached for Westmont college we ran a modified Princeton. And I want a team that cuts back door. Cutting and moving with purpose. Moving the ball and my God able to shoot. We shot 42% from three on the season and we shot a bunch of threes! We weren’t super athletic compared to those we faced in the naia National tournament, but we were well coached. Ran our system very well. We forced teams to play our style of basketball. Much like Wisconsin does. I want a coach who instills a system that has meaning. And a coach who can recruit to that system and make in game adjustments.

So when are you available to start?

This 'cuse zone is tough. So difficult to prepare for. I'd take Dutcher obviously regardless of outcome in the game. Pulling for SDSU though.
Not Dutcher. This game is pathetic... they just stand around the 3 pt line and throw up bricks! At half time they wondered why SDSU wasn’t going inside. They said that Cuse is not that big and their zone was not very successful in the ACC. They actually said that SDSU had a bad strategy and bad execution! No very glowing review of Dutcher. They said his team is not built to run with anyone! No thx to Dutcher.

Probably? Muss and Dutcher are 1-2 for me and the rest talked about on GH (Zags coach is not coming here) are pretty separated from those two. Chance of getting Muss is pretty low, and chance of getting Dutcher is pretty high, IHMO.
I say yes, probably and you read probably. Doesn't really matter. Can I ask you, or anyone willing to answer really, why are you so sold on Dutcher?

The auditions are not going well for the affordable fellas. Back up the truck for Muss or disappoint the fans still hanging on the Gopher bandwagon.
I can get behind this. Muss would likely be my #1.

Wishful thinking I guess. Actually I think we should be looking at the some of these mid major coaches. And not just based on one game in this tournament, but some of them have had ongoing success.

Dutch or Muss

People need to stop with liking or disliking a coach based on one game, even after 10 minutes of a game. I’d take Matt Painter or Chris Holtmann in a second and Purdue and OSU both choked today.

Haha no question. Lot of that going around. My opinion of Smith, Moser, Muss, Dutcher or Gates will not change based on today.

So far Utah St, Cleveland St and San Diego St have all looked mediocre. Coyle can start interviewing their coaches tomorrow. Dutcher, Gates and Smith...can either of them actually move the needle of mediocrity if they coach the Gophers?

Hey, this is the only time that many of us get to see them coach. I actually think Utah State looked not that bad (better than the rest of the teams). The out rebounded TT. They were very cold in shooting the 3 and had way too many turnovers to win.

Obviously a very difficult night for SDSU and Dutcher. Not the first time I've seen Syracuse dominant 2-3 zone. Overall Dutcher teams are fantastic defensively and that's the foundation. Were set to be a 2 seed in last years tournament. 6 seed this year (I understand they're getting hammered but speaks more to the consistency of their regular season). Won the conference back to back years. Lots of experience with successful teams and working with Fisher.

I understand and this is a brutal showing from SDSU and Dutcher. I just think it's more of an anomaly with Dutcher. I like Smith too just don't think he brings in the talent Dutcher would (could be wrong). Gates I really worry about being Big 10 ready. Best coaches in the country in the Big 10.

Looks like Niko will be the top candidate just on the fact that he didn’t play in the tourney and we can’t overreact on the results
Is the NIT in a bubble? He might be coaching a while.
