Kyran Montgomery's decision coming this weekend. Accordibg to the article, it's down to the U and Mizzou:

Wow - he's right up there with the best recruits we've ever had. Hopefully we land him!

wonder if we would take Montgomery AND Davon Townley?

First come first serve. I can feel it now. The Gophers have an up and coming Defense that may surprise a few Big Ten opponents who are focusing on the Gophers Offense.

Team depth is going to sustain this program moving forward. They will simply lock and reload. We are getting the systems and depth that we have long craved for.

He’s a 3 star recruit. .8775 247 composite. I hope we get him too, but he’s not one of the bast recruits we’ve ever had. Townley is higher rated at .8890. I hope we get both of them.

It's a potatoes/patatoes issue, but I was using the Rivals website. On there, he's behind only Caughlin and Faalele.

The Rivals site is just a little "cleaner" than the 247 one. A little easier to navigate for me.

He is number 6 ranked recruit in Indiana, sounds good to me...

You can never have enough good defensive ends, a great pass rush is necessary to get to that next step as an elite defense. Hope we get them both too!

Kyran Montgomery’s 247Sports Crystal Ball is 100% Mizzou.

Trieu also has him going to Mizzou. Unfortunately Wiltfong and Trieu are not wrong very often, but maybe this will be one of those rare times. Can always hope at least.

Rats, yeah they don't miss much.

Hopefully we will get Townley then!

Wisconsin just picked up a 5 star OT.

Let’s see the OL’ switcheroo Mr. Mahlman!

The way OL go down with injuries every OL knows he has a good chance of starting soon.

As you can see above on WAGopher's post ... Montgomery did indeed commit to Mizzou on Saturday.

I think Wis has 3 top 150 OL recruits for the class of 2022 as well. Guessing they land at least 2 of them. Could be loaded in that area for years.

Edit: 3 recruits not yet signed but in their backyard.

All Wisconsin does is recruit OT's.

2019 - #1 and #3 ranked players in the class (#1 is 5*)
2020 - top two ranked players in the class (both 4*)
2021 - top three ranked players in the class now (#1 is 5*)

Looking at the rosters according to 247 (not sure how accurate) ... Wisconsin has 13 OT, Iowa has 9, Iowa State 13, Mich State 12 ..... Gophers have 5.

Mahlman, do you hate the Gophers that much? Well regardless, if you actually want to play and make an impact, you're a fool if you go to Wisconsin. Sorry, brutal truth time.

Go crazy from sitting their entire careers behind Logan Brown and Nolan Rucci.
Maybe he feels that he is much better than his ranking and thinks he can beat some people out. The transfer rules make it easy to switch schools if he realizes after 2 years that he's just gonna get lost in the depth chart. It would be nice if he changed his mind but I don't anticipate that happening.

SI: Top 25 Football Recruiting Class Rankings: Breaking Down 16-20

20. Minnesota

Total Commits: 16

SI99 Commits: 2

Premium Position Commits: 6

We are higher on this Minnesota class than most for plenty of reasons but the conversation begins in the secondary. Not only does PJ Fleck and company boast two top five nickel projections in Steven Ortiz, Jr. and Avantae Dickerson, but each is firmly in the SI99 ranking. The pair of secondary prospects joining them in the Twin Cities aren't much of a step down, either, in Justin Walley and Darius Green. Quarterback commitment Athan Kaliakmanis is an SI All-American candidate with a great frame, athleticism and enough arm talent to push the ball to all three levels. The Gopher passer of the future will be protected by perhaps the tallest offensive line class haul nationally in Camerson James, Logan Purcell and Austin Barber, each 6-foot-7 or better on paper. -- Garcia, Jr.

Go Gophers!!

I know we have three OL in this class right now, but it seems like our top target linemen are heading elsewhere. That seems to be our toughest position to recruit right now? Thoughts on why?

Top target OL are going to have lots of teams after them because it is such a tough position to project that if a kid seems like a sure thing they get a ton of attention.

The OL position, above all others, is super dependent on a staffs ability to project what a guy is going to look like a few years down the line. Most O-Lineman that go D1 dominated in high school because they were bigger and stronger then 99% of the kids they were up against. That changes pretty quick in college. If a staff shows they are good at identifying and developing good offensive lineman it really doesn't matter what those guys are ranked coming out of high school.

Look at the Mason year's, we had solid offensive lines nearly all the time but I don't remember a lot of those guys being highly rated recruits since very few of our recruits during those years were highly rated.

I mean, I don't think he's a complete fool considering Wisconsin has a fairly good track record of putting offensive linemen in the NFL.

I am not going to call out a kid from Minnesota for going somewhere else, but the trend of not being able to get the top in-state lineman is disturbing. My dream school was Minnesota, but I did not. play sports at that level.
