I still support Pitino.

The record is horrendous and I think he should be gone but I have a feeling Pitino isn’t getting fired.
IF Coyle is the wonderful superman AD everyone on GH says he is, RP will not be here by mid April.

I'm a Gophers fan over a coach fan.

Pitino has had his chance and simply isn't up to the task. He shouldn't get sympathy because he seemingly is a tremendous person. He is a bad coach and needs to og.

Coyle has shown he is a good AD. That won’t change whether or not he fires Pitino after the season.

Just thought the board could use a little support for our coach. Can’t let the turkey vultures take over.

Like it or not though, the majority of the fanbase cares about winning games and he hasn't done that. Make fun of the people who do care about that all you want, but it is kind of the nature of the business.

Historically Pitino has bounced back from tough seasons. With the players they have now next year looks like a big bounce back year. ( or a great starting point for a new coach to take over) there are great examples of a new coach coming to a well stocked program and performing miracles (example Tubby at Kentucky ) either Way I think next will be good.

Oturu is likely leaving and when Pitino is fired some recruits will leave....This will not be a good team next year....Hopefully a new coach can make his first recruiting class a good one.

I'll take the second option (the one in parenthesis) please.

Barring the Gophers winning their last two regular season games and then winning the Big Ten tournament, I can't see Pitino continuing as their coach after this season. And it would be an extreme long shot for them to win the BTT. They gas out by the end of each game, twice each week, so I don't think it's realistic to expect them to play well for a full 40 minutes for that many consecutive days.

So if oturo comes out and say he will come back if Pitino stays, gone if he gets fired? what is your opinion.

Hopefully, the recruits will come and maybe one or two existing players on the team will leave (I'm not talking about Oturu - I'd say he's gone regardless of who is coach).

Do you really think that Oturu would forego being a likely first round pick to save Pitino? I can't imagine why.

The program has to move on either way....Pitino has proven he will never finish in the top 5 of the B10.

My opinion is we finish bottom half of the big 10 next year with or without Pitino.

What say you?

Well, given that we have finished there for most of this century, I'd say that is a very good bet.

I get wanting Pitino fired but he already has a top 5 conference finish.

Well, true, but Tim Miles had 2 in 7 years. He was fired anyway because the other years were all bad.

There is no reason for him to decide anything until May after he has time to meet with teams and agents etc. Unless he is gone for sure, he should take his time.

7 years. 47-81 in the BT. A .367 winning percentage. 7-11 BT in year 7, lost 5 of last 6. He’s on the cusp!!!! Just needs another decade or two.

Good riddance, the fact that I had to watch him roll out a starter that would not get clock on most big programs says enough. In the Big you need 8 players, he never was able to get to that number.

Sorry alchemy2u, I know your intent was to keep the turkey vultures at bay and off this thread but they are relentless. They keep circling sensing dead meat. Imagine their aguish when their target lives to coach another year.

That would be all of Minnesota sports in a nutshell. I wouldn't even flinch.

I'm out on the whole argument that if Oturu stays, we keep Pitino. Wouldn't we want somebody else in there to get more out of the team with Oturu? I think we gotta be done and moving on after this year either way.
*Oturu looks like a lottery pick, not likely he stays
