Ten Gophers football players indefinately suspended

Whatever happened was serious enough to suspend over 10% of the football team
 

Even if it is an academic issue (which would be best case scenario), how the heck does that happen? Cheating is one thing, but bad grades are another. Don't players have basically 24 hour access to tutors, help, etc. to make sure they are staying academically eligible?

Point being it could have been a panty raid for all we know. Folks posting that Coach should be fired, Green's leadership should be questioned (this was actually posted), etc. need to slow down. The facts will come out very soon and then we will all have time to bitch as appropriate.

IF this is related to the restraining order, then we have a horrible mess on our hands. It points to discipline problems in ways that high numbers of targeting penalties can't.

Lee Hutton was on Doogie's podcast last week and said the sexual assault situation was not over. I don't know anything more than anybody else, but it may be too soon to say there was a new incident.

Was the universities investigation ever completed. Maybe they just finished up there's and decided differently from police. While additional players may have been found to be lying about situation as well during investigation.

There are going to be some pissed people. I breathed a sigh of relief that I did not make plans to go. And to think I thought it was a good decision skipping the game in Madison which was my first absence since the early 90's. Skipping skunkville is nowhere as stinky as this mess!

It's bad enough nobody gives a rats azz about this 8-4 team but can you imagine what it is going to be like next season if we have a scandal and get our azz handed to us by Wazzu? We are going to wish for the half-empty stadium days like that last home game against NW. WI, IA and NE will be essentially home games for them. It will be a graveyard for all the other home games.

IF there is a scandal, here's some things we can expect moving forward:

What Coyle is feeling... STUN
The number of seasons Claeys was HC... ONE
The number of new season ticket holders... NONE
What few remaining season ticket holders will do... RUN
The putrid fund raising for athletic facilities... DONE
What Patrick will do to Gopher football... PUN, PUN, PUN
What anyone who cares about the program will wish they had, a... GUN

Can't help it. I've grown tired and real grumpy. Maybe I'll go watch Bad Santa to bring some holiday cheer.

Not saying these guys shouldn't be punished, etc....but this would never happen at a big time program. It reminds me of the Diedhou fiasco.

That's true and it could be a terrible situation for the program. Or, it could be false accusations, a lawyer with an axe to grind, or they walked into the wrong restaurant. Point is we know nothing yet.

Easy. Because he wasn't saying "Now we can just fire Claeys!" That in itself is a "fireable" offense for many around here.

There was an article in the Star Tribune weeks back, on a Sunday, about a woman sexually assaulted by a fraternity boy. They later caught the guy. I heard that the investigator from that story is following up on a lot of these cases. I was told not to be surprised if more comes down.

This could be completely unrelated.

That's not true at all. We do know something. We know that whatever was done merited a suspension of 10 players in the minds of someone in either the football program, the athletics dept, or both
