Yahoo: Sources: Arkansas to hire Bret Bielema!!!!!!!!!!!!

The lose on the schools part will depend a lot on who they hire...as for BB, I think this is not just about the money, but maybe he felt he had gotten Wisky as far as he could, got bored and wanted a fresh challenge...IOW his ego...Agree for him it has the makings of being a losing proposition.

You got that right! The man has a tremendous ego that needs to be stroked constantly. I suspect at some point in his life he will have to face his demons but he is not doing it now.

I still believe that sanctions are coming. ..

huh? won the big ten title game 2 of those 3 years. they did not "win" the big ten all 3 years and were not even the best team in each of those 3 years. in fact, i believe michigan state beat them head to head in 2010, had the same record and got screwed over on a conference rule technicality. this year, they backed into the big ten championship game due to the idiots at ohio state and penn state not having any morals. the only year i will grant that they won the big ten in a legitimate fashion and not through some technicality was in 2011.

It wasn't a "technicality"....MSU beat Wisconsin, Wisconsin beat #1 Ohio State, Ohio State and Michigan State didn't play in 2010.

Michigan State shouldn't have lost by 31 points to a .500 Iowa team

I am still just really surprised he left Wisky. But, the almighty dollar speaks very loudly.

I actually think this was a great time for Bret Bielema to leave Wisconsin. This is not meant to be a slam on Wisconsin, but he's reached the ceiling there by reaching 3 consecutive Rose Bowls (not done in the conference since the 70's). What can he do in the next seven years that exceeds what he's done in his first seven? There's really nothing that he can do. Keep in mind that Wisconsin was a 6-6 football team this year if Utah State had a competent FG kicker. The Wisconsin fans, like any fan base, were going to get angry with Bielema when the team had their inevitable slide down to the mid-lower tier of the B1G for a few years. When you can't really compete with what you have already accomplished, it's best to move on especially if moving on means more money and a chance to be appreciated for accomplishing the same things again.

The surprise to me is that Bielema is at Arkansas and not at Auburn. I think Arkansas is a really tough job right now with Alabama and LSU both being top 5 national teams and residing in your division. Who knows if the Tigers were interested in Bielema, but the other division of the SEC looks a lot more open AND the bar would initially be extremely low with how poorly Auburn has played the last two seasons.

You guys just don't get it! It is not the money. He just doesn't think he can win a National Championship at Wisconsin and didn't want to come back to TCF next year and see all those championships on the wall again.

I was thinking the same thing.

The posters on the Iowa board are convinced that BB couldn't go from Whisky to a different big ten team when Capt Kirk leaves in a couple of years. BB will be their new coach then.

The only way that happens if he can't lead the Razorbacks to glory..............

He won't. ;)

To flip this whole thing on it's head...

In a scenario which I firmly believe will never happen as long as Les Miles and Nick Saban draw breath...

Let's say BB leads Arkansas to glory. I'm talking National Championship Game appearances, if not victories. At the same time, wisky collapses into the dumpster fire their fans deserve. Stuff really goes south for them. Bielema becomes one of the greats of our generation, while wisky tanks really hard and takes decades to recover.

I think I'm going to pull for wisky to be "Lou Holtzed". Even if it means we have to drum up some real respect for Bielema. Hell, I'm starting to come around on him already!

As dumb as it sounds all together the first part is definitely true.

My granddaughter is a scholarship student athlete at Arkansas. My daughter called me to ask if Bielema was any good. I asked why she was asking and she told me that the Regents had authorized the AD to pay as much as $6 million to get the "right" coch.

In her mind Bret went so cheap, was he really that good? I had to laugh out loud.

Wow many other teams would need to be excluded from post season play for this to happen?

Auburn is in the west too.

Sucks that he's leaving Buckeyville.....I really enjoyed Gopherhole making fun of him. It made it even more enjoyable hate Badger Football.

Bielema contract is 6 years at $3.2 million a year. Looked low to me at first but it sounds like camps/supplemental income are gonna push this baby to around $4mil a season.

Heard as much as 50% could be guaranteed. Alabama and Arkansas might just have some great recruiting battles over power football players and OL's.

Trying really hard not to make an inappropriate joke here:
