Wow - Marcus: Johnson is arguably at a point in his tenure when he might also need for people to be patient with him.

one of the things I heard (I live in Wisconsin, I hear more about Badger football than I want to) was that Barry Switzer used Title IX to his benefit by pushing to establish the women's team as a huge roster and cutting baseball-- both of those let him have more kids on scholarship and/or as walkons. I think back then they could give a kid 1/4 scholarship like the hockey teams and get more 5 year, big lineman on the roster. The desire for big lineman to hit that training table actually used to be a big draw for the out-state WI kids. I know one parent who said it saved them about $500 a month and that was back when eggs were 99 cents a dozen.
I assume this should be Alvarez?

This is sarcasm, right?

Lavalle just said on Barrerio, “Ben should be on a little bit of a hot seat heading into next year.” Barrerio doesn’t challenge his friends so he just immediately started talking about the Wolvea.

I guess we should be happy that our local media has now taken a kinder gentler more patient approach to Gopher college because I can’t say in my lifetime I have never seen this level of support.

You know, there's just no logic or rhyme or reason to any of it. Unless you replace your all-conference player in kind through the portal, the whole of next season is a perfunctory, performative death march. What does that accomplish? There was a way wider path to success for Whalen going into the next season before she was dismissed.

Any local media bobo who says Ben's earned another year should have to tell us "What are your expectations for year 5 that will earn him year 6?" I could possibly buy the argument for patience if there was ANY remote reason to think next year would be better than this year. But there isn't. There's a lot of reason to think it will actually be worse. What is the POINT of "give him another year"? None of these idiots are thinking about this beyond surface level. There is ONE decent player returning.

I don't think Barrerio cares enough about college basketball to challenge him on a stupid comment like that.

Perfectly logical statement.

We're just the lunatic fringe message board fans calling for the coach to be fired.

The local media loser cabal honestly makes me feel like I'm taking crazy pills

Can't win with our local media. On the football side they get overly negative and take shots for no reason sometimes (Souhan, Reusse....) and on the basketball side they aren't negative enough and are acting like a change isn't needed (Marcus, Lavelle....).

Thank god I went to grad school and have another relevant team to cheer for, feel bad for fellow alumni that are stuck with this nonsense.

Marcus with some more Ben love. He's just contemplating that future revenue sharing.

"...revenue sharing and the need to raise more NIL..."

More evidence suggesting NIL is separate from proposed revenue sharing and will still be around when/if revenue sharing is implemented.

It’s like if Maturi hired Mike grant instead of Tim Brewster

Grant had same level of success as Brewster but was still the coach
