I don't think it's about preparation. Across all of women's sports, there's just an increase in ACL injuries recently, and there's some new research being done as to why this type of injury is more common in women than men.
Also, I'm trying to be generous to the Manhattan player who injured Taylor, but the foul that happened on that play was a total frustration foul. Totally preventable. She got her pocket picked and she got careless trying to defend Taylor at the rim. Mistakes happen, but watching that in the Barn, I was not happy at how hard she let herself fall onto Taylor. I don't even remember which player it was, and I'm not going to bring out the pitchforks against her, but good, responsible players know how to defend without putting someone else's health on the line and that's not what happened Friday night.
