Wisky Fans calling it like they see it.....

Has anyone seen the message boards on Bucky today, after losing to Mich? Just wondering what their tone is?
Here is the real deal on WI football. When they are winning, they get a lot of in-state support from people in the surrounding area that will cheer for anything associated with the state. This is critical because a huge percentage of the WI students are not from the area and immediately leave after graduation.

When the other state sports are doing well like the Packers and Brewers then interest in the Badgers drops very low because again, there is very little actual tie to the school via attending it.

This is the spiral that the Badgers are in now - the state has other things to cheer for and the Badgers start to take a distant 3rd place at least as long as the Brewers are still alive. I suspect you will start to see more and more empty seats at Camp Randall like it was prior to Alarvez. They are a victim of their own past success as until they start to replicate that again, general WI fan interest will not return.

So, while the message boards may be vocal - the only way anything gets down at WI is if the general non-WI attending fans demand action and - as I said above - they are turning a blind eye as there are better options to cheer for in the state at the moment. I could see WI entering another couple decade descent into mediocrity.

Blanked by Iowa 37-0....and their next two games - Ohio State and Oregon.....couldn't happen to a better program. :)
Better fans. They were always so classy just like their coach and heir apparent card says go for two.

I still think they’ll give all the Gophers can handle at the end of the year
Almost always how rivalry games start to go. Think much of it depends on relative health of the teams. Team will be different with Edward’s playing if he does again at some point this year

Probably. They might treat a season-ending trophy game like their Super Bowl, like we did in 2001 and 2010, to at least end a bad season on a high note.
