Wisky Fans calling it like they see it.....

I think Oregon probably will deliver the bigger beatdown only because Day is less likely to try and run it up in general. Plus Lanning is going to be motivated to win big in order to try and offset the loss to Indiana with blowout wins.

I honestly wonder what they are going to look like by the time they get to our game....

Ohio State
Oregon
Washington
Indiana
Illinois

It would be tough to put together a much tougher 5 game stretch leading up to our game. 3 top 10 opponents for a team that is already running out their #3 QB and facing the prospects of a winless conference season.

And good lord.....can you imagine what Cignetti is going to try and do to them? He may try and hang 100 on them.
Honestly everyone is going to put a beat down on them
Indiana may try to score 85 as a revenge for Nov 13 2010

I think Wisconsin is a mess. And I like it. But I have a question to ask. How would our team look if we lost our starting quarterback? Would we have a better record than Wisconsin? I hate Wisconsin and Iowa. But I must admit I don't think we would look very good this year without Drake.
I understand what you're saying. But when the Gophers have injuries or bad luck, and nobody gives a damn. To the outside world, we're just bad. This year, Wisconsin is bad. It doesn't matter why, unless we're talking about how it might affect next year.

Our team would look bad. Probably would be 2-4
But I would hope the team wouldn’t just quit like Wisconsin has
They’re just sad

Yep....injuries are a part of the game and often a huge part of why a team struggles in a particular season. Don't think anyone felt sorry for us in 2023 when we were down to our 5th RB and had a healthy starting QB who played like he was injured.

That said, losing their starting QB was a definite blow but Wisconsin's issues this year are far deeper then just at QB. Edwards being healthy would have helped but I'm not so sure their record is any different even with him healthy. He was OK but he wasn't anything spectacular.

The one that really irritates me is my sister-in-law. She is a UofM grad and is married to an Illinois grad. They live in Wisconsin and for some reason because they live there she seems to think it is her duty to cheer on the skunks every weekend. She doesn't know the difference between a quarterback and a cornerback so she is exactly the kind of person to fall for this nonsense but it still bugs me.
Buy her Gopher gear every Christmas.

I think we are 1-5 without Drake Lindsey. With NW State being our only win. Let that sink in. Our offense with Drake went up against a Robb Smith defense and a bad Prudue defense. We only score 20 offensive points against Prudue with Drake carrying the team. Could we score a single point against a good defense without Drake? I don't see how. We have no running attack and our WR's are not very good. Hope Drake stays healthy.

Well the running game would look better with Max at QB and how do know Jackson can't play. It doesn't help that Taylor was hurt and backup is out for the year. Why does it matter since Drake is healthy? This is a beyond terrible WI team that can't run or pass despite who it at qb. Can't score a point against a good defense without Drake.....I bet it would happen even at Iowa.

Probably still beat Buffalo without him.

Not sure what there is to sink in.....very few teams (NFL or college) have quality depth at the QB position. Especially in this transfer portal era where QBs are moving all over the place

Yeah we would be bad if Lindsey didn’t play.
We would be worse if the team quit like Wisconsins had

I think Fickell is hoping to get fired at this point. His reputation is ruined and he wants that fat buyout check. I'll never forget my badger friend telling me "We don't settle for mediocrity like the Gophers!" when they hired Fickell.

Do we know if Wisconsin's starting QB would have made them much better? There's a chance they are 2-9 (0-8) coming to Minnesota.

We dont
But gopher Mac does

Hell
Billy Edwards led Maryland to 1-8 in the big ten last year.
In the 8 big ten losses he was:
8 touchdowns 7 interceptions

In 3 of the last 4 last year Edwards had a lower YPA than O Neil did vs Maryland
And lower than Simmons did vs Iowa

Billy Edwards should play in the SEC.
Mythological all big ten QB even though his year he started each game he was like 12th in passer rating in the big ten

Sample size is small.
But Billy Edwards actually has the the second best QB rating of the 3 they have played this year. And he is closer to 3 than 1.
They’re lucky he got hurt (JK)
