What, no NDSU Champ Game thread?

Dont forget that a lot of their current success is because Brewster didnt recruit guys that ended up starting and being very successful at NDSU. Kill doesn't let that happen anymore. Take a guy like Lauer. I bet under Brewster he ends up going to NDSU and being very successful. Instead, he walks on here and has success.

Lauer wasn't a walk-on, but I get your point. Keep in mind that several of the Minnesota players who contributed greatly to the winning up there had grades that likely wouldn't have allowed them to go to the U. Williams and Crockett for sure are in that mold. That said, if we had Mr. Minnesota Football winner Vraa (set school record up there with 15 TD catches this year), Olson, Littlejohn and Turner (all '10 recruits) on our squad this year we would have likely played in a better bowl than we did. I'm not saying that Kill would have offered all of them (although I think it's likely), but he would have certainly been more likely to do so vs. bringing on board (or trying to bring on board) Marquise Hill, Logan Hutton and Cameron Wilson vs. Vraa; Dwayne Mitchell, Willie Tatum vs. Olson and Littlejohn; Eggen and Ragoo vs. Turner, et al. It really was a crappy class that Brewster put together. If it wasn't and more of that class contributed to our team, then no big deal but since it sucked then it hurts a bit to have taken flyers on these kids from far away while not giving our hometown heroes the schollie.

That said, I think the Bison will miss their QB the most, he won nearly 50 games up there as a starter. It'll shock me if they win again next year, but it's been quite a run.

The Bison land at #29 in the final AP Poll with a Sagarin of #17 after going wire to wire as the FCS #1 ranked team. Their 15-0 recorded included 4 playoff wins with the closest margin being 28 points to Towson whose RB is leaving for the draft as a JR. Clearly it is championships (#11 this year) that motivate Bison fans as 17-18k traveled to Dallas for the game.

Should they move up, would moving to the MWC or MAC help or hurt the bison program? I say stay put in the FCS until a time that all FBS conferences at least have an avenue to pursue a championship in an 8 or 12 team FBS playoff. Right now, the lower FBS conferences are being paid off to be kept out (bad for college FB). If Every conference had an anvenue to the championship, sign me up. Otherwise no.

I've said it before . . . the FBS Championship should be a 12 team playoff incuding . . .
Top 4 conf Champs In (4)
Bottom 6 Conf Champs - 3 Play-In Games (3)
5 At Large Berths (5)
12 Playoff Revenue Shares available
All teams, other than these 12 can play a bowl game; Major bowls used in the Playoff system
* All 127 Teams in FBS would have an avenue to the championship; College football, all conferences, would be lifted up.

How many bison fans would travel to play in a Bowl game vs. a Sunbelt team or a .500 team from a major conference who would justa as soon be done for the year? Not 17k. Why join a lower tier FBS conference with the current structure?

Jirik had an outstanding 4-year career as well. Brew liked him, but not enough to offer a scholarship.

Bison up 35-7 in the fourth quarter. Have to admit that is pretty impressive. 3 consecutive and handily.

Ok it's great for them. Jump on their board then. Let's see how things go if they install the same admissions the BIG does and play the same schedules. Where they are, they are 3 time champs. People keep comparing them to us and other BCS programs. They have had commendable success playing up but week in and week out, they would be bottom average.

Long term yes, but these teams that just won three in a row no. They were at least the 29th ranked team in the country; rock solid from top to bottom.

I thought this was a gopher board.
If I want to read about the Bison I can go to there board.

The motto on this football forum says: "The "7 National Titles Football Forum" is the place where Gopher football fans gather to talk about the team, college football, recruiting and the program's march back to Pasadena."

So stop opening any threads that are not Gopher related. That's a pretty simple solution, right?

I moved from Minnesota to NoDak about 5 years ago, and have gained a respect for NDSU football over the years since moving here.

Bohl is an outstanding coach, and does things the right way. For example, going into the Kansas State game, he suspended a star defensive player for drunk driving. When NDSU plays an FBS team, those games are huge for them...close to being as huge as their championship games...it would have been easy for him to put the suspension off for a week, and have his star player play in the 2nd biggest game they played this year, but Bohl did the right thing. I wish Bohl success at Wyoming, but I think the greatest advantage Bohl had at NDSU, is that he didnt really have any competition on the recruiting front from other FCS teams. Basically, he got the guys that the Gopher's didnt offer...specifically, very talented guys that Brewster was too dumb to not offer, like Marcus Williams. And the other guys he got to fill out his roster were workhorse, and obedient "yes sir" "no sir" farm boys from North Dakota and Northern Minnesota. There are a lot of advantages NDSU has for an FCS school that I do not think Bohl will have the privilege of having at Wyoming.

And the feeling around NoDak right now, is why leave for Wyoming? Program wise, he had a dynasty in NoDak, and has a long hill to climb at Wyoming. Money is an obvious factor, but its hard to believe that a better job wouldnt come around to him if he kept pounding out championships in Fargo.

Because he is smart enough to realize the run is over at NDSU. He wasnt going to be getting the same talent out of Minnesota anymore, and that was going to hurt his results. Had to cash in while he had the chance.

Get over it. He had ZERO FBS offers. Every single FBS coach in the nation took a pass on him, and many other UND rejects. Stop trying to lay this crap on The "U" coaches.

If you are going to call anyone dumb (I'm not saying you should), it would be Williams since he was the one who had academic issues out of high school. The rumor was he wouldn't have qualified at MN. It's best to know the whole truth (which we will never know) before saying these things.

People talk a lot about Williams but Turner was a much bigger miss. Kill is doing a much better job though so I don't get why people even talk about this anymore. There is a reason why NDSU has turned to Wisconsin and Nebraska more as of late for recruits.

Why do people talk about North Dakota at all on this board? Seriously

Coaches leave top FCS programs for lower-tier FBS programs all the time. This only comes as a shock to Bison fans who continue to deny the total irrelevancy of FCS football.

Because part of the motto of the Football Forum is to talk about.... college football.........

Like I have said to others, do not open and/or comment on a thread if you don't like the topic.

Excuse me, didn't you read that guy's post from two minutes before you posted?

I didn't ask why they were allowed, I asked why anyone cares. Why would someone go to a Gopher message board and expect there to be a thread about a team in a different state, in a different league, at an entirely different level of football? It's like asking why there wasn't a thread for Wisconsin-Whitewater? Why would there be?

I care. And so do others for their own reasons.

I happen to have a high regard for the NDSU football program. Anyone who questions their success is in denial of what they have accomplished. Plus I assume there are lots of GH-ers who are interested in the many Minnesota players on their roster.

Dr. Don is correct in stating that this a forum to talk about college football including NDSU.

You do understand the irony that these NDSU threads would go absolutely nowhere if it weren't for posters like yourself, yes?

How much does this make you care?

By the manner in which you posted, I'm assuming those women are supposed to be attractive?

Great...now we'll have to slog though a bunch of rent-a-whore posts (not blaming you, Dpo). I'm can only assume this was her night off from walking the streets of Williston.

Looks like we have found a marketing department worse than the U's. Spend all that money to advertise to an audience that probably has no clue what you are talking about. That would be like the U doing this in downtown Chicago. This blows my mind.

Wait, this is in Minneapolis?
