Dont forget that a lot of their current success is because Brewster didnt recruit guys that ended up starting and being very successful at NDSU. Kill doesn't let that happen anymore. Take a guy like Lauer. I bet under Brewster he ends up going to NDSU and being very successful. Instead, he walks on here and has success.
Lauer wasn't a walk-on, but I get your point. Keep in mind that several of the Minnesota players who contributed greatly to the winning up there had grades that likely wouldn't have allowed them to go to the U. Williams and Crockett for sure are in that mold. That said, if we had Mr. Minnesota Football winner Vraa (set school record up there with 15 TD catches this year), Olson, Littlejohn and Turner (all '10 recruits) on our squad this year we would have likely played in a better bowl than we did. I'm not saying that Kill would have offered all of them (although I think it's likely), but he would have certainly been more likely to do so vs. bringing on board (or trying to bring on board) Marquise Hill, Logan Hutton and Cameron Wilson vs. Vraa; Dwayne Mitchell, Willie Tatum vs. Olson and Littlejohn; Eggen and Ragoo vs. Turner, et al. It really was a crappy class that Brewster put together. If it wasn't and more of that class contributed to our team, then no big deal but since it sucked then it hurts a bit to have taken flyers on these kids from far away while not giving our hometown heroes the schollie.
That said, I think the Bison will miss their QB the most, he won nearly 50 games up there as a starter. It'll shock me if they win again next year, but it's been quite a run.
