Minnesota isn't Penn St., but PJ is in the territory of James Franklin.... Can't get this team to compete against the big 2.
Offense has no creativity. Have to either scheme to win that or have an identity. We did neither.

That's not totally true. Ohio State adjusted after the first drive and took a lot of what we did away.

I know adjustments n game are something we don't see from our coaches very often, but competent staffs do it all the time.

Lol we played one top 10 team last year... we definitely got killed (not). Highlights are still up on YouTube, type "Minnesota vs Penn State"

I gave a D. I don't mind losing to Ohio State and I think a lot of things can be corrected with development of young players. D will get better. Passing game is likely going to get more As. However, and the players are not at fault here, but the running game gets an F.

A solid D.

The score is 3-14 midway through the 2nd quarter. MN is moving the ball and is near midfield but it's 4th and 1. Coaches decided that the fate of the game would come down to this one play and decide to go for it against the best D in the nation. The predictable RUTM fails. OSU scores a TD on the next play on a busted coverage to make it 3-21.

The game was essentially done that moment, halfway through the 2nd quarter. Gophs still probably don't win, but we'll never know if it might have been a better contest if the coaches choose to punt.

Talent: Perich is our best returner since Upchurch....so if you have a talented player why are we instructing him to fair catch? It appeared to me quick passes were open in the middle of the field...slants for instance...everything seemed poorly designed to combat what they were doing defensively.

Is that the Gophers playing worse than expected or is it the point spread being way wrong? After seeing the talent disparity head to head the final score is not surprising.

I went D. The plan we had for the first drive (and capitalizing on OSU's late subsstition by subbing and forcingthr timeout) is what kept it from being an F. Some of the things that stuck out:
-Not having our kick returner return any kicks he good (busting a huge one on a kickoff return is one of the few ways you can tilt the scales when playing for a huge upset)
-liked the decision to go for it on fourth and 1, but going out of the gun and doing a predictable run up the middle was a horrible choice for how to do it
-felt like once the game was getting away from us, we too quickly just went through the motions instead of pulling out all stops and going for the miracle

Coaches dont get a bad grade for losing in Columbus. Thats going to happen to potentially every team who goes to columbus this year. They get a bad grade for not seeming to have played the entire game from the perspective of "given where the score is now, what gives us the best chance of pulling off a miracle, even if it also increases the chance we lose by 60"

This is the largest long term concern from the game for me.

When the color commentator is essentially saying how bad the plan is during the second half you know it’s bad
 

Still amazed by the number of posters who thinks Fleck's job is just to put a team on the field and make sure everybody has fun.

He's been head coach for what -- 8 years? And he's nowhere near putting a team that will compete for the Big 10 title on the field. His recruiting is terrible, so he puts together noncompetitive teams, loses, "takes full responsibility" and the laughs at our satisfaction in his lack of progress as he counts his millions. F

We literally made a big adjustment a week ago to come back to beat Rutgers.

People don’t watch the games. They just sit and stew in their own anger

It’s honestly sad for them

People on this board after the cal game were saying we lost because we didn’t play enough man to man when in reality the defense played too much man to man

Completely clear when they average 8 wins over the last 4 seasons.
