Weakling Wednesday Dropouts Updates

Thanks! My sources for the name were Steve McQueen, Sydney Pollack, and the Happy Mondays. In a documentary about the actor, director Sydney Pollack said that when he was directing McQueen, McQueen would say "you're twisting my melon, man." Pollack said McQueen talked so hip that he didn't understand what he was saying half of the time. The Happy Mondays later immortalized the words in their song Step On:

You're twisting my melon, man
You talk so hip, man
You're twisting my melon, man

Yep, almost to the halfway point for everyone and there are 9 teams with 4 or fewer Big Ten wins to this point so guessing this list will change a lot.

Washington looks like the only team that has a pretty tight death grip on one of those final 3 spots.
you just wait until Saturday.....that grip will be loosened with win #2

That would be a real bummer considering Washington is 0-5 in road games this year.
Washington is not a good team, but they are not incapable of jumping up and biting someone. Their one win was Maryland, albeit at home. If you haven't seen them play, they have a thick, but surprisingly agile big (Great Osobor) who can go off - he scored 28 in the loss to Purdue. He does most of his damage inside and at the FT line. Besides him, there isn't too much to worry about, and their defense is poor. But Osobor could make it interesting.

We definitely can't take anyone for granted. This is one we absolutely should win as long as we play the way we are capable of playing but with this team that is no guarantee.

^^^ THIS is an example of a Ben apologist.

The whole "Four more years" thread is a Ben apologist thread.

IF the latter happens (it won't) it would be Hindenburg historic. John Wooden historic. Zero coaches in modern D1 basketball have been #1. Hired with zero experience, #2. Produced three consecutive historically bad seasons and then #3 started a season 0-6 in conference and gone on to the sweet 16. Would I love to see it? Absolutely. Is it going to happen? Hell no. I will enjoy each and every victory and then celebrate when Ben is fired. #GOGOPHERS!!
Nothing would go over your head because you would jump up and catch it, right Drax? 🤣

Are we officially weaker than weaklings now?
We are probably pretty equal to most of the lower tier teams in the conference but unfortunately today proved we definitely aren't better than any of them. Making the Big Ten Tournament is going to be a battle, hopefully the team can scrape together enough wins to at least achieve that.

But damn....this game was basically a must win for staying out of the bottom 3. Very disappointing home loss that erases any excitement that might have been generated by the ranked wins.

When I think of the term "dropouts", I'm reminded of when I fart too hard. At least in terms of this.
