I don't follow you.
My point is that "winning" the division without beating Iowa or Wisconsin, doesn't feel authentic.
What if you didn't beat Illinois?

If the Gophers didn't beat Illinois? Then Wisconsin would have the best record in the West. What if you didn't beat Illinois?
We are. It’s a fact. But yes, to talk it up is laughable
Claiming they are co-champions is on par with UCF claiming they won a National Championship.
I would most definitely agree that it rings hollow.Except it isn't, not in any way shape or form.
This one isn't even up for debate. The Gophers are 100% Co-Champions of the West. Obviously it rings kind of hollow with the way things ended but that doesn't change the fact that we won a share of the division title this season.
UCF created their own fictional National Championship because they didn't like the system that was in place.

We got to be co-champions this season, because we got to play Rutgers, while Wisconsin had to play Ohio St in Columbus. Pretty much what it boils down to ...
Those are the rules, and it is a legitimate co-championship of the division. Not saying it isn't.

Probably not a whole lot. A bowl win will be nice, but we missed our chance at the big prize. Still a great season though.Would people’s perspective change if Wisconsin loses the next 2 games and the Gophers win their bowl game?

I figured we'd have to be official co-champions. First time any kind of title since 1967!So do you think Minnesota should remove 11 of the 18 Big Ten Championships they claim? Only 7 were won outright.
Yeah, Minnesota should claim the West co-champion and put up a banner/sign. Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State all claim divisional co-championships in years they didn't participate in the conference championship. This is the first co-champion year for the West.
