Admittedly I'm sad about not having made Nekton of the week too ...I guess he was upset that he never made "Nekton of the week"

Start Nektoning more and maybe you'll have a chance.Admittedly I'm sad about not having made Nekton of the week too ...
I duno ...Start Nektoning more and maybe you'll have a chance.
“This coming from a former teammate while you were with us on the gophers”…then goes on to say how Kill was the man? Why would anyone who played with Martin have any opinion on Kill? No one on the roster would have played or even have been recruited by Kill.

The timing seems really weird. He kept his mouth shut for 8 months, then all of a sudden decides to open up?It’s impossible to know the veracity of these public flamings. Some people will go scorched earth for any real or perceived slight. Twitter bombs, Yelp, whatever.
Is it possible he might not be the type to be amenable to coaching or criticism, teaching, competition or acceptance of loss. What coach or employer would want this guy in their organization if they find these types of tweets?
I know it's only Wednesday, but I have no issues whatsoever hereby naming you Nekton of the week. Well earned slab, keep doing those Nektony things.Admittedly I'm sad about not having made Nekton of the week too ...
Yeah, who knows what prompted him to lash out now. At this point the whole thing is much ado about nothing though. Coaches have big personalities, players have big personalities, there are going to be clashes. The timing seems really weird. Good call back in NovemberCan confirm Martin hasn't been on the team for awhile. Haven't heard that he was injured.
Believe it was over "culture" and team rules, etc.
My guess is that's why he is responding to it because Val called him out by name. As others have said, it doesn't really do you any good responding but that'd be my guess. Why is BSF retweeting that when he's mentioned in Val's tweet as one that doesn't like PJ?
One of the players that was mentioned in one of Val's hissy fits clearly was a Jerry Kill guy. He said something like "my guy Jerry". I wouldn't be shocked if that was the player.Which former player liked his original tweet? I looked through some quickly and didn't see anyone. Saw a lot of likes from Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue fans of course.

There really does seem to be a bit of immaturity with the Val Martin thing.
I'm sure all of us who played football at any level had moments where we were doing 50 up downs and thinking "I hate this f'n guy" when thinking of a football coach. I'm sure we all had moments when we were young when our dad's gave us some tough love and we were pissy about it. That's why that kind of stuff is called "tough" love. He listed a bunch of guys who played 5 or 6 years for PJ Fleck and the only ones that left early left for the NFL.
As far as a fight breaking out on a football field. . . it's not like it's a good thing but again, I don't think that stuff is at all abnormal for teammates to get into it during practice.
Jake Paulson was the only name I recognized that had liked it. They would not have played here together and he would have been recruited by Claeys/Kill. That’s my guess.Which former player liked his original tweet? I looked through some quickly and didn't see anyone. Saw a lot of likes from Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue fans of course.

A lot of the complaints seem to be about injuries, which are going to be common everywhere at this level of football.Didn't Paulson also have an "injury retirement"? This is what he said about why he left:
"After last season (2019) I had three surgeries in the off-season and than COVID happened and slowed down my rehab and recovery because I had to go home and couldn't work with our trainers and do what I needed to do to get back on the field and be confident that my body would hold up," Gophers tight end Jake Paulson said to 247Sports. "And this year (2020), I was still dealing with injuries all season and by the end of the year couldn't even play due to injuries. So I talked to friends, family and Coach Patterson and decided it would be best for me to to not come back. I graduate in the May and so this is my last semester, so we decided it would be best for me to just finish school and be done with football. In 2019 and in 2020, I dealt with injuries to both of my shoulders, my ankle and my back. I tore my labrum in both shoulders and having three surgeries after the 2019 season was a lot. It just make sense that it was time for me."
Sounds like he had a lot of injuries for sure. The former player that messaged Martin mentioned going home/stepping away from the team for mental health treatment. I guess it's possible Paulson had all these injuries AND mental health stuff going on and stepped away.
He was recruited by Claeys, but committed within a week of Fleck being hired.Jake Paulson was the only name I recognized that had liked it. They would not have played here together and he would have been recruited by Claeys/Kill. That’s my guess.
Someone figured it out...Which former player liked his original tweet? I looked through some quickly and didn't see anyone. Saw a lot of likes from Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue fans of course.
Another thing that sticks out to these comments is if it's so bad so many players needed therapy, then how the hell is Fleck able to hire and keep so many good coaches?Which former player liked his original tweet? At one point I saw that Udoibok had liked some of the tweets.Which former player liked his original tweet? I looked through some quickly and didn't see anyone. Saw a lot of likes from Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue fans of course.
