Twins/Vikings/Wild/Wolves Championship appearance drought tracker

I happened upon the scenario that would have to play out: Chicago goes 0-4 and Detroit goes 1-3 with their only win being against the Bears. AND other things would have to happen. This feels like a one in a million shot.

So you're saying there's a chance!

The Bears victory made it official.

Loserville. The sports. The state government. The university. Pathetic all over the place

With luck from injuries to other teams, this year's Wild may be your best chance to make a championship for the next five to ten years. Odds aren't great but the others are all so pathetic

Or a simpler reason regarding the pro sports, lousy owners.

December 20th, 2003 was the specific date per the Michael Rand Daily Delivery Podcast. It was the 25th time since then that all 3 played on the day.

Winners!

If you're wondering, the chance of 24 straight failures in this regard is 4% (0.04).

Does that assume each game is 50/50? Because a lot of those Wolves games were...not.
Yes, based on that simplifying assumption. I should have stated my assumptions. I figure the Vikings have won more than they've lost in that time, but it probably doesn't completely wash.

Will this be the Season that both the Timberwolves AND Wild advance out of the 1st Round of the Playoffs?

Checking the Magic 8 Ball, the response is:

Very Doubtful

So you're saying there is a chance!

The Minnesota Sports Gods are warming up to add two more carcasses to the pile....

Might as well add the Wolves 25-26 now with Ant hurt.

Wolves and Wild have never reached second round in the same year

I beat you to the punch on the "Reverse Jinx" post.

Dumb Magic 8 Ball.

I put this in the Wolves forum, but feels like it belongs here too:

The current Timberwolves streak of advancing in the Post-Season 3 years in a row has only been done by the current 4 Minnesota MLB-NBA-NFL-NHL franchises one other time.

The Vikings had a 4 season streak from 1997 - 2000. The good old days, Pre-Wilf ownership.

The North Stars also did it 1983 - 1985.

The Minneapolis Lakers advanced their first 6 seasons in the NBA, 1950 - 1955. Also partial credit for ending their tenure in Minnesota with back-to-back seasons of Playoff victories, 1958 & 1959. The LA Lakers would run the franchise streak to 5, tacking on 1960 - 1962.

This analysis is false because it ignores the fact that playing so well in the regular season that you get a bye in the first round of the playoff is exactly equivalent to advancing from the first round.
