"I would never run a player off," said Smith, who said he hasn't had one-on-one meetings with all of his players yet, "but usually through attrition, usually through something, somebody decides that this is it."
Smith said he would "cross that bridge when we get to it" if the NCAA doesn't award another scholarship for Mbakwe.
"Something could happen," Smith said. "We could have two or three of them come in and say, Coach, 'I'm not happy.' "
Go Gophers!!
Will Mav please transfer? He seems like a good student, a good team mate, and a good guy, but I honestly cannot watch him play. He is, in my opinion, the worst scholarship player on the team, and I do not think it is even close. I will reiterate, he seems like a good person and has done all asked of him, but he really is not good at basketball.
It is clearly Chip.
Mav has always seemed to have been happy here, even in the bench, actually plays PG, and seems to like Tubby.
Chip seems irritated with playing time, is now behind Welch, Joe, Austin, will likely be behind Wally if he doesn't redshirt, and barely saw time even in a 3 guard line up.
It's like the Kevin Payton situation. Seemingly very nice kid, always been a good soldier, supports the team, doesn't complain, just a great character kid (from an outsider's perspective), but doesn't have the basketball chops. It's a tough decision, but if Mav sticks, the mistake wasn't in not asking him to leave now, it was recruiting him the first place.

Since when is a starter, who said he expects everyone on the team back btw, considered a reserve?I know dood, just find it odd no one has said anything about Coleman..
