That’s probably because the basketball staff is so entirely inept they can’t figure out how to delete those guys, so they keep them up and hope nobody notices.

Or maybe they hope that by keeping them on the webpage roster, they'll forget they wanted to transfer out and stay!

But you're taking a very vauge, very noninformative "relax..." (literally all that was said) and extrapolating that to mean ... whatever you seem to want it to mean?

I used to be a writer in the area of the two high schools that Trill attended and know the town he is from (Cordele). It is not a wealthy area by any means. I don't think his mother has ever been able to see him play a college game, so I'm sure that weighs on a young man.

Thanks for all this! Helps a lot to put all this perspective around it.

I would agree, assuming all this is accurate and hits the mark, that this wasn't about NIL. My early thread ranting and raving about tampering would be false and wrong, then.

The extremely weird timing of it would also seem to speak to it not being about NIL, either.


So based on what you say here and what Fleck said in the video, which again I agree could easily be referring to both of them, we could make a spectrum of:

- on one side is just pure homesickness, not liking or being able to assimilate into Minnesota life/culture, or the team/campus life/culture, etc. and just wanting/needing to get back home

- on the other side is something like whatever happened with MJ Anderson and Rashad Cheney a couple years ago, announcing they were leaving the program before the Wisconsin game.



I would wild guess based on the video, that it is closer to the latter. But that's just throwing it against the wall.

No, no, no, no. I really don't know why you made this up. This is nothing of the sort of what I was talking about.

I'm talking about: to have a guy who busted his ass for your football program, contributed heavily on the field of play, a decision is made one way or another for whatever reasons, fine, but what is done is done, and the response is "I don't talk about people who leave"???

Here's all you need to say:

"Michael Dixon was an important part of our team. He played is butt off for us, he will be missed for sure. We will continue to help him figure out what is best for him, but at this time there is mutual agreement that isn't at the University of Minnesota. We wish him the best. And at the same time, we are very excited about the opportunity this gives guys like _________ and __________ to step up and fill that role next season."

Copy and paste:

Really not that hard. Hell of a lot better than sore loser "I don't talk about people who leave".
 


Tough to lose a guy that had starts and plenty of experience but good luck to him. We have the depth to withstand this even if we gotta play some younger dudes.
 


I think Andy Greder of pioneer press said is pro football focus grade was only 62.6. Not that great.

I get it. Being sarcastic. It's almost never a good thing to talk about these things publicly. Sure fans want to know but it's best a coach doesn't talk about it.

But again, for crystal clarity, if a player does some bad stuff and gets kicked off the team for it …. I was never lamenting the coach for not airing the dirty laundry.

That was never the thing of it, all. It is correct to not air dirty laundry.

If you can't see that his production went down from 2020 and 2021, maybe we aren't watching the same team?

Perhaps it did, though obviously 2020 was an odd year. Why not compare 21 to 22?

You said significant role, but then were diminishing what he had done. Both can be true, sure, but some clarity would be good.

I'm saying he had better numbers and impact in both 2020 and 2021 than 2022. It's also possible for someone to play a significant role (lots of snaps) and also underperform. When you have an underachieving unit, players are still getting snaps. Logically, your guys playing the most snaps (which Trill was) would be more accountable for that underachievement than guys not seeing the field much. Hope that clarifies.

It's possible, but I don't know the answer to that as I'm not that deep into the film. It's also possible not having MDT or Nyles next to him had an impact - could relate directly to your double teams question.
