Trevor issue, dealt with internally

Trevor being a dumb-ass and GW being an obsessed poser are not mutually exclusive.

+1 I could not have said it better. I also support many others in suggesting the GW be booted from this site as a writer. Reporting this information at the start of the basketball season was not an accident.

I realize this is probably not the best question to ask now, but will this incident have any lingering effects into the season? Suspension etc?

He was "found guilty" based on a plea. The withholding of adjudication keeps him from being a felon.

GW?

Did a simple Mbakwe twitter search and GW is insisting everyone tell his side of the story, he must be pulling the little hair he has left out as everyone ignores him on twitter;

Tweets to FSN, Strib, PIP, ESPN trying them to blow this out of proportion for his twisted agenda.

@adammiller67 @ameliarayno Adam - what specifically are you referring to? I talked to the Miami office of the state attorney today.

@FSNtylermason One thing you're missing - has court in Miami on Weds for probation violation (was found guilty of felony assault in Feb)

More incorrect info on FL. Due in court Weds. RT @ESPNAndyKatz: Medcalf-- Source: Smith reprimanded Mbakwe 'internally' http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bas...y-smith-internally-offseason-according-source

@OtisRedding101 @DarrenWolfson We shall see. I'm not convinced Minnesota understands the status of the Florida felony case.

Based on comments coming from Tubby, not sure he realizes #Gophers Mbakwe is on probation in FL & due in Miami court this Weds. #NotGood

Strib & PP early articles miss the biggest issue - #Gophers Mbakwe is also on probation for felony assault in FL. Due in Miami court on Weds

***Can you say crazy? Give it up GW, let it play out! You are the only person pushing this.

Read this. He should not be allowed to contribute (as staff or at all) on this site!

"Hey white girl, give me the phone"

DUI.

Stalking.

On and on and on.

Kick his ass off the team and move on. He obviously has no regard for rules and the privilege he has been given.

Tubby is a real disciplinarian for allowing him to remain on the team.

Geez, this is aggravating after the last few years. This guy is supposed to be the leader, and this season again holds promise. He's already had other problems and was fortunate to still be around, but he continues to play with fire and keeps doing stupid things. I guess I don't care anymore if he plays or not. Reading Tubby's comments on this makes me lose some respect for him also.

And GW's act is just as aggravating.

Kind of weird how obsessive Gopher Warrior is over this whole thing. I wonder if he would be this crazy about it if Mbakwe still played for Marquette? My guess is he would be defending him instead.

Let me get this straight. There are people on here who want Mbakwe kicked off the team for this, is that right?

I just don't care if he is which is probably being a hypocrite. Also, it's not just about "for this". It's for his whole body of work. It's about representing the University well and not continuing to think society's rules apply to you. The fact Trevor is very talented and, by all accounts, very personable doesn't make any difference after a while. As has been pointed out, some people salivate whenever someone at Wisconsin or Iowa gets into trouble but tend to minimize it here. Um, people in glass houses ... ?

His whole body of work? Wrongly accused in a assault, accepts a plea bargain to move on with his life. Sends a former girlfriend a kind, but unwanted message on Facebook. Gets pulled over when under the influence at .11

BURN HIM AT THE STAKE!

GW tweeted his new blog last night which it looks like he just started which likely means he's no longer contributing here

That would be great, but I doubt it, he's got nothing else.

Really? During this time of the year, the football side is much busier than this BBall side, yet a thread about "Micah Hyde, a senior cornerback for the Iowa Hawkeyes, was arrested Saturday morning for public intoxication and interference with official acts." (Link started 10-7-2012) and the story also involved "Sophomore tight end Ray Hamilton was ticketed Saturday morning for being underaged and in a bar after 10 p.m., and junior offensive lineman Drew Clark was arrested Friday for public intoxication." None of those players are losing any practice time or playing time, and that thread garnered a total of 9 comments.

Were those guys on probation?

GW tweeted his new blog last night which it looks like he just started which likely means he's no longer contributing here. Here is his blog in case anyone wants to waste a few minutes. For those that don't, more of the same crap from him and not worth the click http://latenighthoops.com/mbakwe-may-face-additional-punishment-in-miami-felony-case/

I can't wait for the election day coverage as GW stakes out Trevor's polling place to see if the 'convicted felon' will try to vote. I'm sure it'll be riveting.

Nice strategy Gopher Warrior. Cause as much drama as you possibly can (with no ulterior motives, of course), then post your new blog that no one cares about. You must be in marketing.

Yes, wrongly accused and never proven otherwise.

unless you are Mbakwe himself you have no idea if he was wrongly accused or not. in most cases people take they type of deal he did so they do not have to go to trial not to just move on with their lives.

I usually go to 4-5 games a year. Won't be attending anymore. I guess I'm just tired of Mbakwe's antics.

I would require Trevor to attend some type of alcohol classes and require him to be tested occaisonally like they do for multiple DWI's, if he fails a test he should be done.

I believe part of the resolution was to go to AA, as well as community service.

You're going to stop attending games just because one player gets into more than his fair share of trouble? His off-court stuff has, in the most literal sense, nothing to do with what happens at the games. Besides, this season has the potential to be the best season of as yet non-vacated basketball we've seen in two decades. I wouldn't miss it just because Mbakwe got into trouble again.

Yes. I thought Tubby was a man of discipline and accountability, which is proving to be untrue. I won't judge anyone who continues to support the program. I just won't be one of them.

I'm not sure how old you are, but assuming you were a fan before 1999, this is pretty ridiculous. There are 12 other kids on that team busting their @ss and Trevor's problems are his own. And whatever you think of them, he's already been suspended an entire season, which is far more than many other schools would have dished out.

I guess I was under the impression that Mbakwe was on a pretty short leash. Then he gets a DWI and isn't disciplined. (Sorry, but the threat of not starting is not a punishment. We all know he'll be playing mega-minutes when it really counts)The guy has a history of trouble going back to high school. Makes it tough to root for him or the program when there's little accountability....and I don't care what other schools do. I want to support ours, but not when we enable criminal activity just to win a few more games.

How do you know he isn't being disciplined? What source do you have? Tubby said he suspended him from all team activities during the summer and I belive I read somewhere that he has to go to AA and possibly even community service. For all we know Tubby has been punishing him in other ways too. How do you know he hasn't?

It made complete sense to me that Mbakwe took the plea bargain, didn't admit guilt and moved on with his life.

Way to make a stand! Good riddance.
