How much does "Second Team" mean when the "First Team" has 10 players?

Depends what players made the "First Team", and there are some pretty good names in that first 10.

It's a much better conference, but we didn't have one gopher as All-Big Ten First Team, Second Team, Third Team or Honorable Mention this season.

Next year it should be 4-5.

What I'm saying is that I've never ever heard of a First-Team All-Anything at any level of basketball ever that consisted of more than 5 players. To be more accurate, that list should be the best 5 on the "First Team" being the actual First Team, the second best 5 being the Second Team, and their "Second Team" should be the Third Team. The way they did it makes absolutely no sense at all. You don't have 10 players on the floor from one team.

I don't disagree, it's odd. That being said I could see him being Second or Third-Team All-Big Ten if he somehow ends up here. Which seems unlikely.

Would fit in well with the Gophers.

Slightly lower TO rate than Andre/Julian/Maverick... but, pretty brutal. And his highest of his career this year.

Might somebody be changing his tune?

Chillin' with Buzz

A Blackberry AND a tablet PC? It's over guys, Lockett is headed to Milwaukee. A program with that kind of technological prowess is impossible to pass up. I have sources that say Tubby is still using a rotary phone and an abacus.

The abacus still has some use. Rotary phone? Not so much.

So between this and the scholly situation is it safe to say Lockett's not going to be here? Huge bummer in my mind, would've been a great story to have Lockett come back and push this team over the edge. I got to think we are at worst a top 4 team in the B1G as it stands, I think 3 is a very real possibility. You just got to think Lockett could push this team even further upwards with his scoring and veteran smarts. If Lockett joined this team as it stands I wouldn't rule out #2 in the B1G, maybe I'm drinking too much of the Kool-Aid but barring any freak injuries *knock on wood* this team could be really good. I mean really really good.

You forget Saul was using an iPad to call plays, that got the recruits pumped.

The B1G probably will have 4 teams in the top 12 in the preseason rankings and another team that has never finished worse than 4th in the league with it's present coach. I have a hard time thinking we are for sure in the top 4 in the conference. Indiana is #1 or 2 in most polls, Michigan is in the top 5 in many and MSU and tOSU aren't far behind. I'd love to be competing for the conference title, but the B1G is going to be super strong next year and the Gophers aren't picked in hardly anyone's top 4 outside of the Twin Cities. Most MSU and tOSU fans are thinking there is no chance that the Gophers finish ahead of them in the conference next season.

Indiana is looking like they will be the best team in the league next year, I think that's a near certainty. And while Michigan is being hyped quite a lot our two loses to them were I believe by a combined 9 pts, so I'd hardly say we weren't competitive with them. That's why I believe #2 is a possibility, not a certainty.

Beyond that I think there is a lot of opportunity, MSU loses too much in my mind for them to bounce back right away, not saying they'll be "bad" but they won't be typical MSU good. tOSU has the better chance of the two in terms of a comeback, but frankly I think we stack up pretty well against them with us having Trevor and them not having Sullinger. In my eyes Sullinger was the cog for that team, he was damn good in the college game and I think they will miss his production.

As long as this team stays healthy we'll be good, Lockett would've been nice for a lot of reasons, not the least of which being he could be close to his mom. But the fact he's a MN kid would've been great as well.

I feel like this has been said about MSU for the past 3 years.
