I believe the Gophers lack consistency, at times it is like they are listening to different songs. It starts with playing consistent, even if poorly, then they all can grow together. If the players bring positive energy and are willing to be coached… they will improve. I am confident that Coach P will continue to grow this team. They may never be great… but can play to the best of their individual & collective abilities.
I do partnership dance (Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, etc.) mostly with the same partner. At times we are like poetry-in-motion (at least in my own mind), dancing to the same music, remembering our footwork… all is well. Other times it is like we are dancing to different songs, stepping on each other’s toes, and the ‘wheels’ come off. Consistency it what we strive for… if we are consistent, dancing together, even if off-the-beat, then it is easier for our teacher to correct our mistakes. Attitude is also important, not blaming the other, remaining positive and willing to be coached. The Last Bite: What are the ingredients to being a good member of a team?
I think that every day, everybody brings something. So I think just being as consistent to whatever that is that you bring to the table. There’s enough external things that can happen. There’s enough outside emotion. There’s enough variables that can happen outside of your control, that if you can be more the most consistent person and the most consistent teams, those are the ones that like consistently have success.
And things might change throughout the year. I think if you just start with being positive and being somebody who brings a lot of energy, I think that that’s a good starting place to being a good teammate.
