My take: Tyson is a lot more than just a slow, 3 point shooter. He can put the ball on the floor competently, run transition, rebound pretty well for his position, has a B1G build (probably put on 10-20lbs of muscle since that 22-23 highlight reel) & of course is a very good 3 point shooter. He won't average 25ppg (or whatever he did in the two exhibitions?), but he should be our leading scorer. The problem at UNC was the system didn't suit his skills, not that he can't play at a high level, or that Davis can't coach. Nike spotted that Tyson would be perfect for his system, and pursued him aggressively.
With either Tyson or Durkin on the floor at all times, there will never be a time defenses don't have to send a forward to guard the perimeter. With Vaihola & Grove handling in the high post a lot, that should open things up even more. If the other guys (Willis, Asuma, Omot & JCJ) can shoot just decent from outside, that should really open up the lane. Reynolds is a beast driving to the hole, and Willis is very quick to the hole as well. We have versatility on offense now. The ball movement, and versatility has me really excited.
It's also exciting to see we're a legit 9 deep as well. I think people are going to be very impressed with our second unit. Omot is a scorer, and defensively very good. Reynolds brings an energy/intensity the fans will love, and when locked in, is an excellent defender. Durkin will roam the perimeter and bury open shots. Grove will surprise people this year in a role that finally suits him. He'll be out top of the perimeter a lot drawing the other team's center/5 away from the basket, and popping 3's if they don't.
Niko's system is predicated on ball movement, and it really showed in the 1st two exhibitions. We won't win every game of course, but you can see/feel there's a flipping game plan on offense now.
