The little things often time is the difference between winning and losing. With this same team coached by Bo Ryan or Tom Izzo, the Gophers win at least 11 in the Big ten. A couple "little thing" examples that make a difference....

Poor discipline on defense- How do we leave a guy wide open for a 3 at the end of regulation?

Up 9 points with 4:27 to play--- good coaches find ways to win these games. This is not the first time this has happened this year.

Why cant we execute verses a zone? We have struggled all year vs a zone.

Why doesn't Tubby work the refs more. Dre was fouled at the end of Regulation. We needed a couple make-up calls.
Izzo, Bo Ryan, all work the refs.

I could list many more........... I will wait until next year when we get more of the same...........

It's always nice to here from the drama queens after a loss.

I thought this was the "Drama free zone"? I've actually heard a few Tubby bashers say this one was actually NOT on him. Whatever...The fact is it's a young team that hasn't figured out how all the pieces fit together yet & is still learning how to win. This is about what I expected when Trevor went down & I'm ok with how this season played out. I saw the progress I was looking for from the young nucleus + a leader/go-to guy has emerged + the team never quit. Were in good shape moving forward.

When was the last time we had a freshman as exciting as Andre Hollins? Humphries? I really can't wait to see how he develops over the next three years.

I am excited about Andre too. I just hope they find a pg because he isn't one. He needs to play the scoring guard position in a three guard offense. Andre is a future All Big Ten player.

Why can't he play PG? Because he doesn't average 10 assists a game? He already is a good PG and will only get better.

I completely agree. Have we ever had a freshman big who was a better rebounder and defensively than EE and didn't make the NBA?

Because he doesn't have the vision, the handles or the court sense. I know you may have forgotten what a legit pg looks like since Tubby hasn't recruited many, but Andre is a scoring guard, a shooting guard, a two guard. We wins today with a true pg.

Despite all the setbacks over the last 2+ years, he still has the team in shape to build off of this season. We've got a nice group of young guards coming up, Elliott and Mo for bigs, and an experienced 3-4 in Williams.

The team gave the Big Ten Co-champs all they could handle, with a lineup of mostly frosh and sophomores, and no senior presence on the floor. Not bad for a team with a preseason All-American on the bench.

ILL beat MSU. Beat OSU. Beat Maryland. Lost a very close game to Missouri. Were 6-12 in conference. They fired a coach that had them in the final four a few years back. Nebraska was 4-12 in conference. Sadler had won more games than any other coach at NE. He lost 3 of his top 7 players to injury. He was fired.

Us? We celebrate mediocrity with pride. Look at the number of close games NW lost this year. Good coaches win close games.

Who's celebrating? Not me, I'm just pointing out that we have something to be positive about.

Comparing Tubby/Minnesota to Weber/Illinois is ludicrious, it's completely different situation. Toxic to say the least, given the Illinois AD's loss of confidence earlier in the year, and the fact that Weber completely lost his team.

Yes, we lost some close games this year. We also won some close ones (@Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, DePaul, VaTech). No we didn't win enough of the close ones, but its not as it the Gophers never closed the deal all season. Considering how many freshmen we played this year, it's not surprising at all.

Minngg is an idiot, and that is a fact. First of all, I think it is way too early to say Andre doesn't have the court vision to play PG. He hasn't had many opportunities and it was fairly clear Tubby put him in attack mode. Saying he doesn't have the handles is just stupid. I view court sense and vision as being similar things, so too early to judge as well. But I guess when all you have to look forward to is the coach getting fired, you ignore things like that and just say whatever fits your negative vision of the world.

Do you think I am the only person with this opinion on Andre? You call me an idiot? I say if you can't see the qualities that make a good pg, you are the idiot. Sorry. Andre is a great player. He isn't a pg. If you can't see it, fine, but don't knock those that can. Having an opinion on whether he can or can't makes someone an idiot?

No, stating your opinion like fact makes you an idiot.

I see. I have strong opinions so I am an idiot. Well, I'd rather be an idiot then if my choice is that or a blind homer that looks through maroon and gold glasses. Illinois fans are happy tonight. So are Nebraska fans. Not because they failed or hated their coach, but because they have new hope. They did not accept mediocrity.

Hey minngg who do you consider good PGs? Is Jordan Taylor a good PG? He is a scoring PG, should he be moved to SG?

Why can't you see the hope in our young players? Andre Hollins just played like a B1G all-conference player. You are the biggest joke on this board right now. Notice how no one is backing you up?

Most people from this forum and most people from the state are fed up with Tubby and are apathetic to Gopher basketball or haven't you been to the barn lately? It is a joke. Most left here are blind Tubby homers I am sorry to say. And I could care less who supports my opinions. They are mine, not others. Finally, I agree on Andre Hollins. I love the kid. What does that have to do with anything?

I thought some of our boys grew up in the tournament. I have a lot more hope this evening than I did a few days ago.

Dre is already solid and could be spectacular. EE is a workhorse. Oto is skllied and is gaining confidence.

Julian and Rodney should be able to provide some Senior leadership. Mo should be back.

I'm not predicting we will with the B1G next year, but we will win more than we lose, and we will go dancing. Both of those are going to be major steps forward, and definitely give me hope in the future of the program.

Bet you are wrong on next year. Do you think other teams are not going to be better? Iowa? Indiana? Penn State? MI? We may get to .500 if Trevor is allowed to play which I doubt. Our recruiting class is below par. Mo may help but do we know? He has only played a bit over 100 minutes since he got here and this team looks much better when they go small, not big.

Why do you post if your already doubting a team that has yet to play a game next year?

It amazes me how people on this board cannot handle anyone who disagrees with their point of view. Ricky Rubio is a great example. Looks to pass first, is a play maker, and make his teammates better. Dre Hollins would be even better if Tubby knew how to recruit a good point guard and understood how to create an offense that could leverage that skill. This loss is totally on Tubby. The Gopher fans do not know what it feels like to have a winner. They have settled for mediocrity. I hope with a new AD the culture shift will begin to happen.

Because Ricky rubio's grow on trees. If tubby would just recruit a center like wilt chamberlain we'd be pretty good too.

Yes, a pass first PG is ideal. But Russell Westbrook, kemba walker, Nolan smith and others have been scoring PG's who took their teams to final fours and championships.
