Since everyone wants him to transfer here and he has connections to Austin and Andre, I figured we could give him a thread of his own. Sounds like we'd have to beat out just about every other top program in the country.

Tarik Black drawing interest from Duke, Kansas, Marquette, Miami, Tenn., FSU, UMass, 20 others -- per his AAU coach Eric Robinson.

This may have been answered in another thread, but is Tarik eligible next season?

I don't like our chances.

Let's just wait to see how young Richard operates. There is plenty to sell a kid like this on, including playing with some guys he knows and being a day 1 starter on a team with some talent. Might be the sweet spot between the blue bloods and the A-10.

Maybe he would appreciate photoshopped pictures of himself in Minnesota?

TarikInsider, are you there?

Pitino should go after Black and tell him a Minnesota commit comes with an all expenses trip to Maui. :D

Dre just tweeted this picture outside Sanford. Didn't know the west side of East Bank had such a drastic difference in climate from the east side of East Bank. :D

According to someone on Gopher Illustrated, the Pitino camp is very active on getting Tarik Black, which is awesome to hear. I can't help but think of this run and gun lineup...

Kept a close eye on Tarik in high school. Was close to heading to Marquette before joining a number of other local products at Memphis.

MU is in play again this time as are a number of the other big boys. He can produce better than he has so far in his career - really depends what he's looking for (i.e., if big minutes are of great importance, Gophers may look quite appealing). Could be an excellent addition for someone.

He was a 45% free throw shooter last year - he'll fit right in as Mbakwe's replacement!

Marcus Fuller of the Pioneer press confirms possible fit and gophers interest in latest tweet. That's good news.

Good luck - about 10 schools want this guy..including Duke and Kansas. Pipe Dream!

Per Memphis transfer Tarik Black's AAU coach, both Richard Pitino and Kimani Young have called. Black eligible right away.*&^!##gophers10:55pm*&^!#- 11 Apr 13

According to CBS' Jeff Goodman Black "likely will graduate." As a Jr. I'm guessing that means he stays at Memphis?

Probably meant he'll graduate as a junior so he can transfer any where and play right away.

He wants to move on and not play at Memphis below is some history. And since he has graduated plus we are not on Memphis's schedule (a condition Memphis has) he could come here and play without sitting out...

......Frustrated Tarik Black back with Memphis after one-game absence, talk with coach

Losing forward Tarik Black would have been a big blow to Memphis' hopes of earning coach Josh Pastner his first NCAA Tournament win, but it doesn't appear that will happen.

Black missed Thursday's win over UT-Martin because he was frustrated with the game and the team's performance so far this season. The Tigers were 3-2 before beating UT-Martin.

But after taking a night off to get his mind right Thursday against UT-Martin, he was back with the team Friday following a morning meeting with coach Josh Pastner, who was happy to have his co-captain as well as second leading scorer and rebounder back.
Pastner said indicated there will be some punishment for Black missing the game, but it will be handled internally. The preseason All-Conference USA first-team selection said he just reached a point where he needed to step away for a night.

"It was a buildup of things, just being honest. I'm not one for really complaining or stressing my issues and things that are on my mind," Black told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "That can be a blessing, because that's a leadership quality. You have to endure things, keep pushing, keep moving and keep motivating.

"But at the same time, it can also be a burden because you go home everyday and you're the one that's dealing with something and nobody else knows. ... At some point, I'm only human, so it's going to come out. It just so happened that after this three-year period it came out."

Memphis is 4-2 after beating UT-Martin without Black. The Tigers don't play against until hosting undefeated Ohio on Wednesday.

Anyone happen to know the average cost of a private jet roundrip, let'[s say 1400 miles roundtrip for example?

Just wondering how many annual private jets can young Rich use for his recruiting sojourns?

Regardless, the trip to meet with Tarik might be a good investment after a few phone calls!
