Something I Don't Get About People Turning On JERRY KILL...

A new AD should have no problem explaining that both the institutional and athletic leadership changed which is why a coach was let go after 3 years.

What we can't afford not to give Kill at least 4 years. This wasn't a desirable BCS job when Kill was hired. If he was fired quickly, it would be even less desirable a job. The only way the AD could spin such a fire to a potential head coach would be if the coach had been fired by the previous head coach. That way, the AD could condemn the previous AD for firing the coach too quickly, and assure the coaching candidate that he will be given a decent length of time.

Horton really had the defense believing in themselves and showing it on the field. I was afraid that when 1st, 2nd, 3rd coaching choices rejected us that the Gophs might be in trouble. Nothing I have seen so far has changed that fear. A big part of coaching is motiviating the players to perform at their best level, the jury isn't in yet, but I don't like what I am seeing thus far.

Come on man!

Did you read the post you quoted right there 60s guy. I said they have done a terrible job so far. I said that doesn't mean they are bad coaches. If you wanna argue that they've done anything other than a terrible job on the field so far go ahead. If you wanna argue that they aren't bad coaches, you are arguing against a claim that I never made.

"Doesn't mean they are bad coaches" ???

your quotes:
"To turn on kill I would have had to have liked him to start."

"I don't find kill likable. I don't know why. For some reasons Minnesotans hate guys who say we're gonna go win and love guys who say aw shucks we suck. "

"People expext a big ten coach to have gameplans that wouldn't be outschemed my many freshmen football coaches.
People expext the guy in charge of coaching players the coach labeled as terrible to make it to practice in 75+% of the weeks.
People expext the team to look like it's improving not rapidly getting worse.
People expext a guy who preaches discipline to have a team that cuts down on mental penalties as the year goes on, not get more of them. "

"People expected the team to come out and give an EFFORT

People expected the coaching staff to have a PLAN

People expected the guy who preaches discipline to have his team play with some... "

"25% of this team never played for Brewster. 50% of this team played for him less than a year.

You keep blaming Brewster. I'll talk to you in 5 years when I'm analyzing our new coach."

"They are getting worse and they look more poorly coached than they did under Brewster. "

"Talent is one thing. Being poorly coached is another. "

SORRY, I misunderstood you. I have no idea how I got the impression you thought they were bad coaches. Get real.

For those who don't believe the pgm was in a bad bad way it's too bad. But Jerry Kill is doing exactly what has to be done to rebuild this program the right way. He didn't sell anybody snake oil, he sold his record, what he has done (more than once) and he will do here. He has given the older kids a chance, and by his actions Sat. it's time to move on with young kids.

give me one thing that is better from week 1 to week 5? i just want to believe these kids are learning how to get better from week to week and i dont believe that is happening right now. give me a group that is doing things better to make our team better...

dont worry, i'll wait!

Well they won a game between week 1 and 5. They had a 10 play 95 year TD drive of all running plays against NDSU. Young players are gaining valuable experience which will help in the future.

I'm not sure if you have noticed but other than the USC game, which the entire USC team played asleep, they have been playing progressively better opponents each week, thus appearing worse each week. Does this make sense?

No. With the exception of Mich. being a better opponent nothing you wrote makes any sense.

It's very clear. I've seen Moulton and Jones and Goodger out play McKnight and Lair. It's not that they're not throwing it to them, they're just just not leaving it all out on the field. "

This simply isn't true. Not commentating on the rest of your post, but Moulton, Jones, and Goodger have not out-played anyone. They have been below average at best. The fact that Lair hasn't been used more is a joke.

1) Stop publicly running down the players. It may just be honesty, but at times it borders on being disrespectful, especially to a group of athletes who have been though a lot of adversity in the mismanagement of this program. Also, it makes it seem like Jerry is playing the "expectation game" at the expense of his players.

Note that the first list is much longer than the second. My support for Jerry Kill is irrelevant, my support is for the Gophers and the University, and it will take quite awhile to prove or disprove that he was the right choice.

+1
