Seantrel to USC

I can't believe how shocked/mad/disappointed some of you guys are about this. I guess I learned my lesson after the Michael Floyd saga. It would have been a true miracle if Seantrel actually picked us.

Exactly, we can recruit the top kids in MN (Floyd, McNeal, SH, etc), but if they don't want to come here and we don't do anything to prove we deserve top end talent, we won't get them.

With the basketball program having lots of problems right now, the vikings losing a fluke game, the number of decommits from the football program, it just seemed like something would happen for us.

With Carroll leaving, it is just shocking that he still chose USC. I think that is what is most suprising to me.

Him picking USC is surprising but not choosing Minnesota? No

Really? You're a Minnesota sports fan...expect the worst (and the Vikings didn't lose a "fluke" game, they lost it by not being able to hold onto the ball.

I'm still waiting for something good to actually happen to the Gopher football or bball program. I did hold out the smallest hope that maybe SH would finally turn everything around. While I am happy with a few players, this class isn't anything good enough to make me happy about the happenings in Gopher sports.

10th in recruiting in the BT is not what I was expecting from Brew coming into his 4th year. I am a Brewster supporter, but this is a bit disheartening....

At least its not Notre Dame

Definitely this. I'm not mad and not all surprised, but that doesn't mean I should be all smiles. What disappoints me though is it just seems he only included the U to keep the locals happy. I also didn't really like that the only thing he could say about Minnesota seconds before he picked was "Uh, hometown school". Really, that's it?

I think it's more that SH chose USC. It adds to the theory that his dad exerted his influence over him because how can a nice kid like Seantrel choose to go play for a dirt bag like Kiffin?

I would have rather he sign with Notre Dame (sort of) or Miami because they are out of conference. And I would have been okay with Ohio State. But USC? I'm also a WA Husky fan and we're not too happy about what's been happening at USC either.

I can't wish him well or ill. I have a finite supply of good will, there are about 7,000,000,000 people in the world, I don't have enough goodwill for everyone. The amount of goodwill that I reserve for football players is limited to the players for the University of Minnesota.

If he wanted our goodwill, he could have signed with Minnesota. Don't feel bad for him, he'll have plenty of other people to wish him well.

You do realize that we've also been ranked 6th and 7th, right?

It is shocking to me that so much of our best homestate talent leaves. The team they grew up watching wants them to stay in state and improve the program they have been rooting for (i would think) all their lives. Does it hurt their NFL draft potential, I think not. Just shows the lack of loyality some of these big name players have.

Yeah, blame his dad and not the pathetic program and coaches at Minnesota. Gimme a break. What about Ohio State being second? Tressel a goon too?

How do mom and dad just pick up and relocate to LA? Not sure what they do for work here in MN but I can't really see how they can leave their jobs and move to one of the most expensive places in the US just like that...I thought NCAA athletes didn't get paid. I have to admit I am bummed, but this whole thing smells funny and I couldn't help but pick up on a bad vibe from his dad.

It was almost if he was embarrassed to say on national tv that he was from Minnesota. I know he was nervous, but he took time with the other schools to say something nice about them, but then kind of dismisses Minnesota. However, I'm not going to read too much into this because it seemed he was trying to do it right.

Does anyone know if Kiffin was on him before he went to USC, or was this simply his choosing the school vs choosing the coaches?

I just registered today and I have to say I don't think I will be heading back to the Strib. Its amazing that I can see my post after I submit it and it doesn't float around in no mans land for an undetermined amount of time.

Didn't you hear?! Sean Henderson just announced a new rap album with Snoop Dog so the job thing is all set. I'm eagerly waiting for that album to drop!

If the college football world was your oyster and you could literally pick any school in the country (ok, maybe not the Ivys, Stanford, et al), would you pick Minnesota?

I wouldn't either.

Who knows. I am not cooridinated or talented enough to have that "problem". You would think that we would get these 5 star minnesota players every once and a while at least.

No more shocking to you as a Gopher fan than it must have been to Michigan fans the year they failed to sign even one of their state's top ten. Tell you what, if it's that tough to take here's a prescription: Watch the movie MASH. See that big black pill? Help yourself.

I might have. I wanted to leave Texas and see the world on my own. Unfortunately my options were limited to the 3 I's after the 'D'

He could have had the fame of a Nagurski. Now he falls into the NCAA infractions pit along with Kiffin. Who knows? SH may transfer back home after it hits the fan out there. As others have said, at least he didn't go to another Big Ten school - but it is irritating to see so many super stars from Cretin (my alma mater) going out of state. The bad tradition continues...

If the dating world was your oyster and you could literally hook-up with anyone for the next three years, would you pick the one being investigated for STD's by the NCAA?

I wouldn't.

I certainly wouldn't pick the virgin with a sense of entitlement.

:D

Agreed.

Though I wouldn't pick the full-of-herself ugly duckling with the motormouth, either.

Nothing new to add except to say that I firmly believe SH made a serious mistake. There is no doubt in my mind that Carroll bolted because of impending doom for the USC program from the NCAA. SH will spend most of his career not being able to play in a bowl much less for a championship. My heart bleeds for him.
