"Save" Gopher Football strikes again

I don't post often, but I need to put my 2 cents in. The problems with Gopher Football have not happened overnight. Where has this group of players been for the last few years. If they had spoken up before this maybe they would have had a glimmer of credibility. JM is the AD, doesn't matter if he is a lame duck or not, he is conducting the search. What this group (or individual) has done is made Gopher Football look very dysfunctional.

Plausible deniability is a great feature of such a loosely organized group.

Right.

If the search turns up with a dud of a head coach, who will we blame? Under normal circumstances it would of course be Maturi as he ran the search. But what other schools has Adam Kelly sent letters to? How many coaches have Kelly and savegopherfootball.com contacted? There's some serious shenanigans going on and I'm afraid that if the search turns out badly we'll never know who to blame.

The guy is an idiot, but this has nothing to do with his job. If you're not a customer of his or Dunn's then just leave it be. I have no respect for this man but see no need to go after his livelihood.
 

Haven't read this thread at all. My thoughts on the article can be summed up by the wise words of Peyton Manning. All of this is coming from some "idiot kicker."

You are confused. The above post was not a 'Glen Mason was the best thing to ever happen to Gopher Football' post. It was a 'Joel Maturi is an idiot' post.

Regardless of how you feel about Glen Mason would you agree with the following:
- he should not have been extended if he was going to be fired the next year
- he should have been fired after the season not the bowl game
- the last coaching search was a joke and we ended up taking a huge gamble
- recruiting was a disaster because of the firing
- the last coach was a failure and a downgrade
- we are still making payments on a buyout loan for the last coach

The Mason firing was impulsive, emotional, and unplanned. It was executed with the forethought displayed by a two year old who throws the food on the floor.

I don't even know what your original post was but +1. And it's not even the worst thing he did. What was done to Dan Monson in March 2006 (he's fired, oh wait nevermind) was worse.

As a response to my message to them, "YOU are going to ruin our chances at getting a great coach. If we fail in this search, most knowledgable Gopher fans will blame you rather than JM."
 

Nothing Seems to be Official at the University of Minnesota

1. Please take a look at the colors of our uniforms under Cal Stoll. I believe the colors that SaveGopherFootball sports is very very close to the Cal Stoll uniforms.

2. So what are our official school colors? Somebody, way back when, probably on the old GopherHole board, published the exacting technical specifications.

3. On the other hand, take a look at the University of Minnesota Alumni Association "M". http://www.minnesotaalumni.org/s/1118/index.aspx As far as I am concerned it is not an official University of Minnesota M either. So what is? Somebody, way back when, probably on the old GopherHole board, published an explanation for this, which was couched in legal issues between the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Alumni Association. I did not buy it then. I do not buy it now.

4. All that being said, it just goes to show how disjointed and disorganized we are at the University of Minnesota. At times we look and act like the old federation of former Soviet states immediately after dissolution of the USSR, or maybe we are closer to the disorganized mayhem which was and I guess still is called the British Commonwealth.

Might not have much of an effect considering that he's the founder of Dunn Insurance. lol
 


Wasn't there a member that claimed to know Mike Leach personally? Have we figured out which username Kelly is using yet?

SaveGopherFootball has this up on their site now:

While we share his frustrations, his efforts do not reflect the direction and motives of the Save Gopher Football movement. We are concerned about the hiring process and who shall lead that and do not condone the personal nature and actions of that individual player. He is not a spokesman nor representative of our group. Please voice all opinions regarding his actions to him directly. We are, like the thousands of fans who have contacted us, only concerned about the program and the direction it has taken over the past several seasons. Thank you. Please help us put the Gold Back in Gopher Football."

They certainly didn't after the Salem debacle, so it would be in keeping with the tradition.

My guess is Adam Kelly's tech guy got a call this morning about how to change an e-mail address.
