Reusse takes shots at Heather Fleck, "cowardly folks at Gopher Hole"

Social media was the downfall to any resemblence of decency left in the human race.. I hate all of that... All of it...
This is 1 Million percent accurate.

If civil war breaks out in this country in the next decade or so ... it will be entirely the fault of Twitter, Facebook, message boards, and even worse places on the internet.

The OP misses the Tweets that got Reusse in the first place:

Reminds me, don't we have a poster here on GH who uses the "rent free in your head" bit constantly??

You're right, I didn't read the article. I just knew Buxton was nominated and confused that for him being a winner.
This is where Pat isn't equal opportunity, he always gives the Twins and specifically the Pohlads the kid gloves treatment while every other organization gets shredded even in success. Buxton deserves to negotiate bc he's terrific despite injuries and would get more on the open market.

Phat is a joyless CREEP. Can you imagine living in the same home with him? His poor spouse.

PJ ate a difficult conversation for breakfast, then proceeded to tinkle all over Patrick's Cheerios.

(Since we all know you're reading this, how'd those taste, Patty-Cakes?)
Post of the morning right here.

Have you ever attended Patrick Reusse Daze in Fulda?

All the people that can't and won't do anything constructive sit around and compete in the snarky cynicism contest.

The semifinalists are awarded the "Reusse 'Rhoid" medal while the winner takes home the "Reusse Perfect A$$Hole Trophy".

All in all, a good time drinking the hard booze straight like a tired old reporter and celebrating a local boy made good and staying out of town the rest of the year.

Ruesse is just a bitter old man who never got an offer to a bigger job (like Medcalf going to ESPN) and wants to make everyone around here feel as miserable as him.

List of Minnesota media hoping the gophers would lose: Reusse, Barreiro, Souhan, most of the KFAN dorks, etc.

I wish we had actual sports talk and reporters in this town.
Not sure why the brass of these folks won't wise up to realize that they are promoting a product that people don't want. I've never understood it.

Both people in this social media fight are icky. Let em fight it out with each other.

People like Reusse love being biased and ridiculous. It's literally how he gets his jollies.

He's mentioned it time after time. He's not going to change.

With that said, it's pretty clear he's also a garbage human being. It is what it is.

He is what he is and he's damn proud of it.

So, I have been branded as a "Reusse Apologist" and for that reason, have refrained from posting in this thread.

FWIW, my personal opinion is that storming the field should be for rare occasions. It's becoming too common-place. that - I believe - is what Reusse was getting at with his tweet.

In response, some classy Gopher fan tweeted back that he hoped Reusse would have a heart attack and die. That tweet was later deleted by Twitter for violating standards.

I will just say this. I am a Gopher fan. and I hope that some day, I get to see Gopher fans storm the field after winning a B1G Championship or a Rose Bowl. That would be worth storming the field for.
I also hope that some day, beating Iowa or beating Wisconsin is not an event worth storming the field for, because the Gophers do it all the time.

In fact, the day the Gophers beat Wisconsin, and the fans don't storm the field, because "we did that last year," - now that will be a day I relish.

Like once every 18 years?

If he didn't trash the Gophers in every possible way and every possible time, I could go with some of that.

He sucks though.

I believe his personal vendetta against the U goes back to something that happened in his drinking days, but I will refrain from posting on it.

Seems like Pat was channeling his inner Donald Trump with that tweet.

What is sad, at least to me, is that in his heyday, Reusse was the best sports columnist in this media market by a long ways. He had solid takes that were offered with just the right tone and the guy could really write. But, as is the case with so many, it's all turned into snark (as has most of the rest of the media world regardless of subject matter or viewpoint). I guess getting clicks is at the heart of it, but cogent discussion has gone out the window in the process.
At this point, he's just become lazy.

read the entire post. B1G Championship or a Rose Bowl win. anything less than that is not field-storming worthy in my opinion.
How often do you go to games where it's even a decision you need to make?

I think most sports journalists--heck, all journalists--are lazier now than years back (and I'm not saying that as a grumpy old "get off my lawn" guy). Almost all coverage is based on the immediate take and there is so little in-depth reporting. There's still some good journalistic work being done, but the people doing it are working for news and opinion outfits that provide them some space and it's not that easy to find.

And all this from a guy who admittedly never attends Gopher football in person. I recommend SON be renamed SBN- short boring Norwegian.

His job is to stir up shit... and get people to pay attention to him. Just another day at the office, folks.
I don't pay attention to him except to roll my eyes. I don't read his articles despite getting the Trib.

On rushing the field. There were a few yesterday throughout the NCCA. End of the year, frustrating season, beat a rival, why not rush the field? What is there not to like? Gopher staff had no trouble with it.
