Ra'Shede Hageman NFL Draft Updates, Projections, Analysis & More

My mock has him going to the 49ers in the first round. I feel like that's a nice landing spot for him.

Apparently this guy doesn't think Hageman would be a good pick for any team in the first two rounds of the draft...

There appears to be a lot of "doubling" in that analysis. I think the writer was positing what the best result would be for each team given the range in which they will be drafting. As a result, a lot of guys are picked more than once.

Hageman has appeared to fall a bit in the last week. I think there are some concerns that his production won't match his projection. I'm guessing late 1st at the highest, mid 2nd at the lowest.

read that article and his point was what would every team's ideal draft be if everything broke perfectly for them. Most people list Donald as the top DT

My point is he has to be someone's best case scenario at some point. If he's projected to go at the every end of the 1st round, wouldn't it make sense that a team at the top of the 2nd might be able to snag him if "everything broke perfectly" for them?

Not really, no. If there are 2 incredible standout DT prospects, there's still a very good chance that the third DT could get picked up in the last first round since three teams are likely to need a DT. However, if each of those three teams had their perfect draft, that third DT would never get drafted.

That's all this mock draft is doing. Ya Feel Me?

I've seen a few mock drafts that have him to the Bears at #14 and the Sports Illustrated mock had him to the Cowboys at #16. Packers at #21 is a common pick and i've also seen an occasional #20 Arizona once or twice.

Yahoo's last mock has Hageman to Pittsburgh at 15. I think he would do well there.

WTF ESPN.

Minnesota DT Ra'Shede Hageman

Class: 2009
ESPN 150: No
Position rank: No. 12 tight end
ESPN scouting report: "This kid can be a productive weapon as a receiver. He also has upside as a blocker. A bit raw in his technique he will be physical and can create push in the run game. Gets into a defender and drives his legs. Displays good tenaciousness. Needs to be more consistent in his hand placement."

They are showing all of the High School scouting reports that were written up for these players, not the current CFB to Pro scouting report. He played TE and was listed as a TE coming out. Not sure what's so "WTF ESPN" about this?

It makes perfect sense. ESPN is recapping how players were viewed as recruits. Hageman was considered a tight end coming out of high school.

Please get drafted by the Packers!

Front 3 of: Hageman - Raji - Peppers

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel Packer correspondent Bob McGinn has Hageman at #32 to the Seahawks. He also has him as the second-ranked DT, behind only Donald. McGinn is pretty good at this and is pretty wired in around the league, so I'm still guessing somewhere in the 20s as the highest and 40s as the lowest.

A lot will depend on what GMs view as his slot value. Some might trade down and draft him where they think he'll be in line with the value they've assigned to him.

Hope it goes well for him.

Gaelin Elmore is a virtual carbon copy or Ra'Shede as a TE. Only thing he lacks is the insane vertical of Ra'shede although he still has a good one.

Go Gophers!!

Looks like he'll drop to round 2... I think he was worthy of a 1st round pick, but he becomes a 2nd round value (thus far).

I am bummed about Shede but I must say that if Houston takes him with the #1 second round pick then their defensive line could seriously end up being the best ever in the history of the NFL by a long shot. Watt, Clowney and Ra'shede who i believe has the most upside out of anybody in the draft not named Clowney.

I have to figure Houston has Carr penciled in, even if they got burned by his brother. Washington picks second, he could end up there. They need D in a bad way.

Go Gophers!!

Well at least for Jerry he got to see Jimmie Ward taken.

Bummed for 'Shede that he didn't go in round 1. The upside for him is that if he plays up to his ability the 2nd round is a better spot to be than round 1. He could get stuck in a 5th year option as a first rounder while as a 2nd rounder he hits free agency after 4 years. Hopefully, he becomes an impact player. Would love to see him wind up in Seattle and be a part of that Dline rotation.

For the Gopher program, it would have been really nice to break our drought of first round picks. We haven't produced anywhere close to enough pros in my lifetime which not only partially explains our record, but also hurts recruiting.

He probably didn't deserve 1st round consideration. He did take a lot of plays off. Given that, I believe that whoever gets him will have a major huge steal. The motivation once he's in the NFL will create a beast.

Go Shede!

I think the book on Hageman is that he has a long way to go technique-wise.

This isn't an apples-to-apples comparison, but there was an offensive tackle named Bruce Campbell (not the "Evil Dead"/"Brisco County, Jr." Bruce Campbell) out of Maryland who absolutely blew up the combine in 2010, but had questions about how productive he'd be as a pro. He ended up getting drafted in the 4th round after a bunch of draftniks had him in the 1st or 2nd based solely on his monster workouts. Hageman won't fall that far. My guess he'll be gone by 40, but I think there are questions about how much he needs to learn to be effective at the next level. The same "takes plays off" rap was leveled against Jerel Worthy and he didn't make it through the 2nd round in 2012. Hageman's a better athlete than Worthy.

Would have been great for the program if Shede had gone in round one (perception standpoint), but would assume his name will get called pretty early in round 2 today. Hopefully for him he lands in a great situation that will enable him to see the field fairly quickly. Then we can all sit back and see where Vereen ends up.

I think it's hilarious how Marcus Fuller was saying last night on twitter that Hagemen "fell" out of the first round like he got snubbed. He didn't fall anywhere. A first round pick would have been a case of him being taken early. He'll go somewhere in the 2nd which is where an athletic beast with questionable technique should go.
