Ra'Shede Hageman NFL Draft Updates, Projections, Analysis & More

Sometimes people get it in there heads that because i guy ran a 4.7 as a 250lb te, that they will put on 60lbs and still run a 4.7. Believe me there are not to many 300+ guys who can run under 5 seconds in the 40. Kinda of like QB Gray, I heard all kinds of rumors about 4.5 speed. It didn't shock me that at 240 lbs he ran much slower 4.7 i think.

Kind of like The Brady Bunch with Alice playing the football.

Maybe it's because they always have helmets on...but I only immediately recognized Hageman and Brock Vereen. Who are the other 6?

Upper right is Aaron Hill and bottom center is James Manuel I think.

Jake Filkins | | Brock Vereen
Martez Shabaz | James Manuel | Roland Johnson

I thought Roland Johnson looked like a buff version of Maverick Ahanmisi

What I hear from the "scout speak" that goes around this time of year, there doesn't appear to be a lot of middle ground. I don't read anything really negative, but the opinion seems to run the range from extremely positive to merely middling. My guess is he goes in the 2nd half of the first round. I have made the Watt comparison myself. I don't think Hageman is as consistently explosive as Watt, but Hageman probably has the most versatility of the top DL guys in the draft. He could play DT in a 4-3 or DE in a 3-4.

Also said this.

When Hageman converts speed-to-power, it's a nightmare for OL. Does it involve turning John Brenkus into a pretzel?

#29 to the Pats, I'd like and think it'd be a great spot for Shede to land:

http://thebiglead.com/2014/04/02/2014-nfl-mock-draft-five-weeks-to-the-draft/

I'd like to see him go higher then just 29 but if he does get passed up there is zero way that the pats wouldn't take him. Pat Kirwan of CBS has him at #17 to the Ravens. I personally believe he would be a steal anywhere outside of the top 10 but would be a top 2 or 3 pick if he was considered one of the safer players in the draft.

I've seen him anywhere between 17 and 34 at CBS sports and nfl.com. I'm guessing late first. The primary concern expressed in almost every scouting report I've read is his uneven play and lack of consistent production.

per Shama:

Former Gophers defensive lineman Ra’Shede Hageman said he won’t be disappointed if he isn’t chosen during the first round of the May 8 NFL Draft. “Not really. There’s a lot of great players that have went second round that were able to do well so that doesn’t really concern me at all.”

The 6-6 Hageman weighs over 300 pounds and is viewed as someone who could play multiple positions on the defensive line. He said that versatility and his explosiveness after the ball is snapped are attributes pro scouts like.

What do scouts doubt about the Minneapolis native? “Just my motor. Just my consistency. …But that’s something I can easily change,” Hageman answered.

Go Gophers!!

Anyone else think this is an odd comment? Don't get me wrong, my love for Shede is as unabashed as any other Gopher fan, but if he could so easily change those two things, why didn't he do it college?

I was going to post something similar but had a hard time finding the proper wording.

I can't run a 4.4 40 or throw qbs into the stands but it's something I can easily change.

Yeah, bizarre.

It is what it is. He may not have the stamina to be an every down lineman. So what? He can be dominant in short bursts. And he was. Well miss him.
