Go Gophers!!

Oh man, I hope the Vikings pick Khalil Mack for no other reason but because I want to have a Matt Kalil and a Khalil Mack on the same team.

I also wanted Tubby to offer Ellwood Ellenson a scholarship so he could join Elliot Eliason on the basketball team.

measured in at 6-6 318 today. His 40 time and that type of thing will be tested tomorrow while i believe his bench may be tested on sunday.

ESPN: Minnesota players arrive at combine

Hageman, who is projected to be a first-round pick, could be a fit for the Minnesota Vikings, particularly if they decide to trade back and pick up a defensive player in the first round. The 6-foot-6 tackle could play nose tackle for the Vikings and line up alongside 2013 first-rounder Sharrif Floyd, assuming the Vikings don't bring back 11-year veteran Kevin Williams. Hageman, who was converted from a tight end to the defensive line when he came to Minnesota, admitted he's "definitely a few steps behind" some of the tackles in the draft, and is still learning the finer points of the position. But he said he'd be comfortable playing nose tackle if he was asked to do so, and with his size (6-foot-5, 310 pounds and 34 1/4-inch arms), he's the kind of powerful physical specimen that will tempt plenty of teams in the draft.

Chicago Tribune: Versatile Hageman a possibility for Bears

“I tell coaches I play all the way from a zero technique all the way to a nine, just the fact that in college Coach (Jerry) Kill had me play three technique, two-i, everything. So, I’m very versatile and comfortable playing anything they want me to play.”

Hageman, who measured 6-foot-6, 310 pounds, is known for his high level of athleticism, especially considering his size. He provided one of the highlights of Senior Bowl practices last month when he bulldozed an offensive lineman onto his back during one-on-one blocking drills.

Hageman is aware, however, that athleticism alone cannot carry him in the NFL. He switched to defense from tight end in 2009, when he redshirted, and he said he’s “a few steps behind” the other defensive tackles in a strong class.

“I feel that I have to catch up,” he said. “Just, you know, educate myself more obviously on d-tackle and just be more fundamental because especially when you get to the next round, I feel like everybody in the NFL is athletic, especially the d-tackles.”

There are 4 mock drafts up on nfl.com. Hageman isn't in the first round in two of them, but one has him to Cincy at 24 and the other is the 49ers at 30. He'd be a great fit on either of those defenses.

Ra'Shede benched 225 pounds 32 times which ties for third among all D-lineman. Pretty good for a long armed guy like him where as a shorter guy would have advantage.

I do find it amusing that 5.0 in the 40 for a guy that weighs over 300 lbs is not considered amazing by football standards. In real life a guy that big moving that fast is pretty friggin impressive but by football standards it is just a run of the mill time. Of course when you have guys like Clowney running 4.47 it kind of messes it up for everyone else.

True, but Clowney only repped 225 lbs. 21 times. Heck, I've done better than that (over my lifetime, with lighter weights).

Hageman also had a 114" (9.5 ft) broad jump, and a 35.5" vertical, #2 and #1 respectively for DTs this year

2 of the guys in NFL Network just mentioned that Ra'Shede has really stood out. Mentioned they see him as a versatile player that could play DE in a 3-4 and some DE in a 4-3. They mentioned what Kill has said for years now - he needs to work on his pad level and get lower to play inside

@MasterStrib: Brock Vereen led DBs w/ 25 bench reps. Wrote about him today #Gophers

Ra'shede Hageman's 35.5" vertical jump led all D-tackles. Remember him bragging about being able to 360 dunk. Imagine him on the bball team.

We could use a bruiser at PF that can block shots and rebound...no idea if he is talented enough but we know he has the size/athleticism!

If I remember right he was a very good high school basketball player and could have gone D1 in Basketball if he had wanted to so I have no doubt he could have been a solid player had he gone that route. Like Mo Walker though he probably would have battled some with his weight and keeping that under control.

he had a walk-on opportunity to play for us and if he didn't play football he would be less then 220, he wouldn't have to "battle some with his weight and keeping that under control"

pretty disappointed with Ra'Shedes 40 time, didn't even run a sub 5 official, i was hoping for a 4.71 like Henderson, not that 5.02 is bad for even average but Shede is a freak that i was hoping would kill it in the 40 instead of just running above average for his size, great vertical, bench, 10 yard split and broad though. I was wondering if he would be a better dunker then Rodney if he lost 100 pounds or if Rodney would have a 35.5 vert like Shede if he gained 100, or at least Joe Coleman or Austin Hollins.

From John Clayton:

3. It's great to be big and fast: A strong group of defensive linemen looks even more impressive after what it did Monday. The most impressive interior lineman was defensive tackle Aaron Donald of Pitt. At 6-0¾ and 285 pounds, he ran a 4.68 40. Let's put that in perspective. Donald ran the same time as Johnny Manziel, who weighs 207. Imagine that kind of speed and explosiveness along the line. He could be the ideal 3-technique tackle. Another big winner was Timmy Jernigan of Florida State. At 6-1 5/8 and 299 pounds, Jernigan, a nose tackle, ran a 5.06 40. Defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman of Minnesota was also a stud in the 40. At 6-5 7/8 and 310 pounds, Hageman ran a 5.02. Coming into the combine, Donald, Jernigan and Hageman all were considered lower first-round picks. They may have edged toward the middle of the first round with their times.

The vertical is more of a measure and impressive along with his bench. He is explosive and has strong hands and arms. How often will he be asked to run someone down from 40 yrds? We saw what he did in running the screen play down from behind last year.

Exactly. He'll be able to knock down balls and kicks, as well as knock people on their butts. The speed time that is important to him is the 10-yard time, which I think he ran rather well.
