I remember reading that he would have two years remaining but I just saw a facebook update he did which says: guess who's finally eligible...3 yrs left, huge win tnite boys and many more trophy wins to come...shout out to all the seniors..hell of a game!

Does this guy really have 3 years of eligibility??

You don't believe him?

He missed two years because of injuries, so he would be eligible for a sixth year.

I look forward to seeing him.

Our linebacker play is as bad as it gets.

I don't know about that, Tinley and Cooper were much improved by seasons end. Throw Beal into the mix and they should be fine next year.

As far as the overall D, a lot will depend on the new HC and DC. A healthy Beal will excel in any situation with good chemistry. If the DL is good it increases his impact.

Beal's been waiting for this for a long, long time. I could see shots of him on the sidelines throughout the game on TV and he seemed really into it. It's a good sign seeing that since he spent 2 years at Florida going 23-3 or something of that nature

Our linebackers will be solid next year, remember we had 11 new starters on D this year. The exprerience will really help. Tinsley led the team in tackles and will only improve. Cooper and Rallis are solid and Beal is supposed to be a stud linebacker.

Of all our incoming class for next year, Beal was the guy I was most worried about (bailing on the transfer). Just one question.. How did you catch him on TV? I guess it would help me to know what he looks like, but just thought it would be hard to catch glimpse of him on the sidelines AND get a good feeling that he was into the game.

Either way, though.. I'm REALLY happy that he's sticking around. Happy not only for the win, but to see his Facebook status.

EDIT: Also, I thought his first name was Brendan?

If it's Brendan, we'll call him Brendy.

I think I will have some "Brendy" :)

Yes I spelled his first name wrong, I realized after posting and am surprised it took until post 11 to get called out, usually the spell check police are on top of it. ;)

good thing we figured his name out now, I have a feeling we're going to be talking about Beal all offseason. Dude looks like a stud and if we bring in a serious defensive minded coach, ish could get real.

Easily as it turns out.

He was wearing a Jersey with his name on the back and the number 1 on it. Plus with his size, he does stand out a bit.

Tinsley was out of position in the middle. I think he'll excel when he moves to the outside.

Rallis is the Odd man out (Unless the team goes 3-4)

Though in the Big Ten, no doubt all of them will get time due to injuries and fatigue.

No he isn't. When healthy Rallis was our best LB. He also is the only LB that fits naturally at SLB because he has the best coverage skills of our current LBs. The odd man out would be Cooper but the good thing is his strength (smaller quicker teams--generally spread) is offset by Tinsley's strength (downhill running teams--Iowa, Wisconsin, etc).

A double transfer is pretty rare since you'd have to sit out another year. I've never really thought he would leave considering he missed a year for injury at Florida too.

I really don't think Rallis is the odd man out either. I thought he was our second best LB when he was healthy this season.

Yeah, but you keep thinking Edwards is going to play at LB, so what do you know?;)

At this point, I believe Beal has 2 years of eligibility left. He would have to petition for a 3rd - likely after next season. Even then, it's not guaranteed.

Rallis starts next year and so does Tinsley - thats probably set in stone. I think both of them can play either Will or Sam. Maybe this Beal kid is legit. Never seen him play, but it appears his size best suits him for the Mike spot. Like I said in another thread, Cooper likely plays SS next year, unless the new defensive scheme is completely different.

Rallis is by far the worst of the 3.
He is the slowest.
He takes on blockers the worst.
He loses contain the most.

LB play has alot to do with how well the DL keeps people off of them. We have a good stable of L

The play of the LB's has alot to do with how well the DL keeps people off of them. Our stable of LB's is not too bad. The way the DL played against Iowa our LB's will be fine.

That would be good

The Carl Eller Award (outstanding defensive player) went to junior linebacker Gary Tinsley.

found this on youtube - beal at Florida during scrimmages and spring games. Any doubts about beal's speed, tackling, and a nose for the ball must watch this clip. 1 year older and chopping at the bit. kid is a legit MLB - hope he sticks around for his 3 years of elgibility. if stays healthy - high expectations for beal. this video isn't a high school tape - it's against one of the teams in the country Florida gators. Man, I got goose bumps watch this clip - this what we need in the middle - big, fast, smart, and can tackle. WOW!!!
