Question on Brandon Beal

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0-S9Aml8C0
found this on youtube - beal at Florida during scrimmages and spring games. Any doubts about beal's speed, tackling, and a nose for the ball must watch this clip. 1 year older and chopping at the bit. kid is a legit MLB - hope he sticks around for his 3 years of elgibility. if stays healthy - high expectations for beal. this video isn't a high school tape - it's against one of the teams in the country Florida gators. Man, I got goose bumps watch this clip - this what we need in the middle - big, fast, smart, and can tackle. WOW!!!

Wow.

Wow...that was an impressive clip.

I noticed on one of those stretch plays he chased down Demps, and Demps is by far the fastest player in college football.

He got away with tackling really high a few times, but he has 'tremendous' instincts. Beal is going to get drafted.

Guys, he left Florida (a team that ended up out of the top 25) because he wasn't getting PT.

I am glad he is here but will wait for him to produce on the field.

I figured out the problem with Florida this year.
Did their OL get to the second level once in all of those clips?
I understand it was a highlight tape for a LB, but dang...he never even had to fight off a block.

Rallis is by far the worst of the 3.
1. He is the slowest.
2. He takes on blockers the worst.
3. He loses contain the most.

1. Maybe, but he has a good motor. He's got the intensity needed to overcome some speed issues.

2. By far. He runs at the blockers instead of around or "through" them.

3. True.

I was really dismayed at his game against OSU. He had two chances to level Pryor, but stopped dead in his tracks on one and jumped to block a fake pass on the other. Results = easy pass completions. We need our linebackers to not give up on easy hits. In my opinion of course.

Intensity and "motor" (whatever that means) never make up for a lack of speed on the edge.

Yep, Rallis is SO slow they had him playing safety his first two years. Apparently, they were waiting for him to get faster so they could move him to LB.

Maybe that is why he won't be an All American, but it doesn't matter how fast you are if you don't always use it. That is what "motor" means.

Beal is the deal. Write it down.

He was always in the D huddle during time outs and seemed to really get into the games. I watched the video of the Fla scrimmage and he was all over the field.

If he stays healthy, he will be our best D player and maybe even the best player on the squad.

This. Rallis was putrid this year. Tinsley will move to OLB and Beal will fit in at MLB if that's where he's best suited...and can play.

Beal already has been awarded a 6th year by the NCAA. He received the letter a few months ago - Beal has 3 years left

That being said, Rallis will still be key next year. You don't go through a Big Ten season using only 3 LBs. It will be nice to have a 4th who is at least relatively close to the others and with some experience.

Remember Rallis played most of the season with an abdominal muscle strain, most people with that injury have trouble walking fast, let alone run.

If that is true I feel for him. I think Ben U (TE) missed serious time with an abdominal strain.

Closest thing I have had to that is a bruised sternum, I can tell you that that is tough to play with. It hurts to breath. I would imagine a strained abdomen would be similar type of pain, but at higher levels.

LB will be a good group - need 1-2 more for depth. depth is an issue at all our positions. Tinsley, Beal, Rallis, Cooper, Reeves, ++++ will be tough to run on as long as BK isn't selfish. Front 7 will fun to watch. Teams will be forced to throw against us next year which may be a scary proposition. would love to see some pressure on the QB.

Add Hill, Grant, Tatum, and Singleton to the group of LB's. Depth shouldn't be an issue. Apparently Dwayne Mitchell is moving to safety.

Good depth at LB right now.

Aaron Hill doesn't see the field except for special teams in 2011.

Rallis starts. Cooper doesn't start at LB.

why did he pick the gophers...was it brew? kid has a huge upside now i know why he was a 5 stat on scout. if he stays healthy - major impact on D next year.

4* rivals, 5* scout - do your homework...why would you think that - #2 MLB on rivals and #1 on Scout - we have a stud that needs to be coached up and developed. MLB is a key spot. facts are facts and evryone is always looking for negatives on these boards - i dont get. without a positive attitude and support for a program people should root for the vikings and local HS teams. Go Gophers.

thought you were talking about Cooper.

^ Co-sign. I asked him about it and he said he has three years left. He wrote in a message: "i havent felt this great in a while 100 percent healthy now and have 3 years of eligibilty left. ... Going to do big things this year!"

If Beal plays to his potential the next 2 years, he probably will leave early. Even more likely if the NFL CBA has a rookie wage scale.
