Predicting the 12/3 AP Top 25 poll...

Meh. I could care less that Illinois is ranked where they are. ESPN has the Gophers ranked at 13 and Illinois at 19. I am more concerned that there are teams highly ranked in the preseason that are still riding solely off their name. "Concerned" is a huge exaggeration by the way. I am simply happy that Minnesota is getting some respect, as they should.

i hope the gophers continue to get disrespected! it might give the team extra motivation to prove everyone wrong, i hope anyways

I don't think #14 in the country is being disrespected. You could argue that #21 in the Coaches Poll is somewhat disrespectful given that Illinois, UNC, Michigan State, and Kentucky are ranked ahead of them, but I think most feel the Coaches Poll is less accurate than the AP poll.

Wow. I didn't read all of them, but his reasononing for UNC, UConn, and MSU are ridiculous. Plus he has Michigan at 7 and the Gophers not even in it. This is exactly the type of guy that Gary Parrish blasts when he writes those articles calling out how ridiculous some of these voters are.

I laughed at the UNC, UConn, and MSU stuff. By his comments, you'd think he put them in the 20's, not 15-17.

Kentucky is still ranked in the coaches poll because they had wins over solid teams like Maryland, Lafayette, Morehead St., and LIU. Makes perfect sense

You took it to the extreme. I wasn't saying disrespect in any aspect other then regarding Illinois. I will be sure to post full page responses so its not confused my apologies

If we win the rest of our games up to Michigan State and move up 1 spot in the polls each week we will be ranked 10th in the AP when MSU comes to town.

Now let's get really weird here.

Beat MSU - move to 7 or 8
Beat Northwestern - move to 5 or 6
Win @Illinois - Move to 3 or 4

I realize this is a long shot, but it's fun to dream. Our game @Indiana could catapult us to #1 if we pull the upset. A few top teams would also have to lose.

Ohio State dropping from #4 to #7 after a close loss at #2 Duke makes as little sense as anything and is another reason why polls are overall pretty bad.

There is a difference between dreaming and crazy talk.

What's nice about the rest of the non-conference schedule:
- We have a great chance at winning all four remaining games
- #5 Louisville has 2 road games in addition to hosting Kentucky
- #6 Florida has 2 road games, including 1 at #8 Arizona
- #7 Ohio State hosts #9 Kansas
- #8 Arizona hosts #6 Florida, as stated above
- #9 Kansas plays at #7 Ohio State, as stated above
- #10 Gonzaga has a road game and hosts #13 Illinois
- #11 Cincinnati has a road game and hosts #18 New Mexico
- #12 Missouri has a road game and hosts #13 Illinois
- #13 Illinois plays @ #10 Gonzaga and #12 Missouri, as stated above

Guaranteed that 4 or 5 of the teams between #6 and #13 *will* lose a game.

Which of the teams above Ohio State doesn't have a better resume as of now? Duke isn't a bad loss by any means but when you're that high there isn't that much room for error. All of those teams have done more than Ohio State so far, whose best win is over a Washington team who lost to Albany earlier this year.

Good stuff, thanks for compiling.

So if we keep winning, and start the conference season 2-0 (so we're 14-1), when the January 7 polls come out it's likely that Illinois, the Ohio State/Kansas, and potentially the Arizona/Florida loser will drop below us (better chance that Arizona would drop below us with a loss at home), making us at worst #11.

Throw in some more upsets - Kentucky over Louisville, New Mexico over Cincinnati, Illinois over Missouri - and we could be no worse than #8, just by virtue of teams dropping due to losses, on 1/7. At that point we would need back-to-back wins over Illinois and Indiana on the road, which would undoubtedly vault us into the top 5.

Let's go get 'em :)

I don't think beating MSU and Northwestern at home would bring us up 4 spots unless there are huge amounts of upsets. Winning Big Ten games at home is pretty much expected for Top 10 or 15 teams

I like the story headline on ESPN: "Kentucky takes biggest plunge in top-25 history"

His post was out there. Beating MSU, Northwestern and Illinois would not put us at #3 or4.

Have to love it. Coach Cal and his Kentucky team dropped from AP top 25! They probably won't be out for long though. they should win their next four and then have a tough game against Louisville.

I agree. Plus I hope Illinois pounds Ganzaga. I always cheer for the big ten against other conferences........unless it is Wisconsin.....that would be wrong. :)

we ARE 14 and Kentucky is unranked, I'm thinking Tubby is smiling a little
