We couldn't tellI was happy to be wrong about the Gophers not winning another game this year. Like others said, I’m worried about the future QB, RB, etc. and our coaching.
Morgan is fine managing a ground game against a team our offensive line controls. Should be ok for NW and might even work at Nebraska. It's iffy to doubtful against the other two.Nothing today with Morgan at QB has me confident against better teams including a 3-5 NE.
Guess we will just have to play well and not let them.My
My thoughts exactly. Nebraska will want to play racehorse football next week, if they get up, we have no answer.
Huh? They're still here vocalShould keep the Tanner haters quiet for at least another week
I didn’t say anything about making a change at QB or running a Mike Leach offense. I’m just saying doing what we did today makes it even easier to cover our already bad WR group. We ran the ball multiple times in non short yardage situations with 8 defenders in the box.The conservative gameplans...
I mean the following respectfully, and I am not trying to start an argument:
Would you say the strength of our offense is Mo running the ball hard? I certainly would.
Our QB play has been so-so, and our receivers — including the tight ends! — are below average at getting separation and catching the football. BSF dropped a sure TD, right in his hands, today.
Yes, you're right: our one-dimensional offense is a problem against good teams. And yes, you're right, it would be nice to have a better passing attack.
But we don't. We do not. What we have is what we have. So we have to win the only way we can. We have to play to our strengths.
As far as beating better teams in concerned, do you really think inserting young Kaliakmanis and throwing 40 times a game, including multiple deep throws, will accomplish that? Will the pass blocking hold up? Will the receivers and tight ends suddenly stop dropping sure TD passes? I mean... we saw Penn State.
Penn State is a good team. And I would give Athan an "A" for his performance in that game, because he did all he could do. But the deck was stacked against him. Our o-line is far better in run-blocking than pass-blocking, and our receivers are substandard.
Morgan actually played just fine for the most part based on the plays called.Nothing today with Morgan at QB has me confident against better teams including a 3-5 NE.
Exactly, but unfortunately, PJ will never do anything more than what he has too to win. If anyone thinks the game plan today is beating Iowa your crazy. But I guess we are trying to develop our receivers and passing game in practice. Doing it live in games must not be the way to develop your players. The problem is we get into games where we can’t just pound the ball and hold the ball for long drives and then we can’t adapt. I don’t blame Morgan a whole lot. In virtually ever pass play today the 1st read was a short route.
We weren't throwing another pass, so it doesn't really matter. One thing I do not understand is, up 24-0, game in hand, 7 minutes left, and Morgan is shuttled out to finish the game. I guess we will wait until the opener against Nebraska next year and throw AK8 out to trade blows against a 5th year Sr, instead of giving him some time now. I think this is nuts. Please explain.
Me too, but I’ve read on here that isn’t Fleck’s style.Actually thought #8 might get a snap or two in the 4th Quarter...
Let me guess....is there another Martinez coming in?Nebraska QB hurt his hand today.

I can’t imagine any other options.Let me guess....is there another Martinez coming in?
Hopefully they watched Rutgers QB throw the ball… yikes…Should keep the Tanner haters quiet for at least another week
Morgan threw a sure-thing TD pass to BSF at the end that he dropped. We weren't throwing another pass, so it doesn't really matter.
Didn’t seem like it earlier this year.Morgan threw a sure-thing TD pass to BSF at the end that he dropped.
PJ actually did it in the non-conference season when we were up big and let AK throw it a little. I know PJ is obsessed with not running up the score, but if you put your frosh QB out there, I think everybody understands you’re just trying to get him reps, and not necessarily trying to run up the score.
This viewpoint always amazes me. I love boring games in which my team controls it from beginning to end. The goal is to win the game, not entertain fans. For sports entertainment, follow the WWF.Nice to get the win today! It was a boring game though. No energy in the stadium today.
A 99 yard drive early in the game to demoralize the opponent is the most impressive thing a team can do.

I agree with what you are saying, but I think we can have more balance. We don’t know if we’d be any good in the passing game because we don’t do that. I suspect we wouldn’t be initially. I think if we did do more, the passing game would be better off, and when we had to pass we might be more competent at it.The conservative gameplans...

Tanner Tavern guys can puff their chest with a dominant 122 yard air raid day against a ultra tough Rutgers teamShould keep the Tanner haters quiet for at least another week
