What say you GopherHolers?
It’s likely not possible at MN, unfortunately.I'll continue to catch shit for saying it, but until/unless Fleck starts to recruit at a top 20 level, we won't be top 20 level.
That said, that's no excuse for this level of play.

Well, you can if you out perform from a coaching perspective, your talent. We will never do that under this regime.I'll continue to catch shit for saying it, but until/unless Fleck starts to recruit at a top 20 level, we won't be top 20 level.

How’s it possible? On average that’s recruiting top 5 in the four major conferences. 45+ teams can’t do it.
Pray tell, what makes it impossible to recruit top 20 classes? How’s it possible? On average that’s recruiting top 5 in the four major conferences. 45+ teams can’t do it.
If you're expecting Gopher coaches to recruit five-stars, maybe you should stick to the hockey team.It seemed to me that the Oregon crowd and the team were taking it out on us for their bad showing at Iowa. The crowd never stopped roaring at every Gopher play. The Gophers can't compete with the top third of the present B10. This is the ninth year and they should have 4 and 5* players by this time.
Don’t get me wrong, Oregon is good but should have been closer. This team doesn’t show up for big games. Pretty much every big game they have been destroyed in. Penn State last year seems so very long ago. I just want to have them be competitive in each game.

Sure - I think it can. But not without more money. That is the variable.Pray tell, what makes it impossible to recruit top 20 classes?
Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
Can be done.
That team that finished 7-6?The Gophers did beat a then ranked #11 USC team just 13 months ago.
But that gets to the point about if a ranking matters more at the time of the game or at the end of the season. Usually ranked teams don't collapse ... but USC did.The Gophers did beat a then ranked #11 USC team just 13 months ago.
Barreiro was telling people yesterday on his show that Cuban only just started donating to IU football. That none of the 2024 players received a cent from him.
Cignetti is good and he brought really good talent with him. He has a culture he instilled quickly due to bringing guys who had been with him as players and coaches. He went 11-2 and then the money came in. His HS recruiting is on par with MN and others. His coaching is not at this point.Barreiro was telling people yesterday on his show that Cuban only just started donating to IU football. That none of the 2024 players received a cent from him.
So ... I don't know how much that factors into it. I'm sure he is paying some of the players on this year's team. Maybe he personally bankrolled Mendoza ... no idea.
The talent was so good ... that in 2022 they went 8-3 in the Sun Belt?Cignetti is good and he brought really good talent with him. Other teams, like WI or Iowa, have played these teams and looked way more competitive. This game was over minutes into the first. This is a classic Gophers football team - win a few against the most abysmal teams and show complete loserdom against any team with competence. It’s not a good or entertaining squad.Don’t get me wrong, Oregon is good but should have been closer. This team doesn’t show up for big games. Pretty much every big game they have been destroyed in. They suck as well…If you're expecting Gopher coaches to recruit five-stars, maybe you should stick to the hockey team.
3 man fronts need to be abolished. The offense is frustrating but not that surprising with so much inexperience on that side. But the defense has been extremely disappointing IMO. Other than CB, the defense returned a lot of experience from a good defense last year. They should be better than what we've seen.
