Post Game Thread: Gophers win 3rd in a row, CRUSH Maryland!

Excellent passing attack but need to improve our run blocking for a more balanced offense- so weird to even post this about Goldy. Great team D n our healthy secondary is legit ! Let’s keep improving n get ourselves to a decent bowl game . Go Gophers !!

At home, on homecoming, against a mediocre Maryland team seemed like a classic letdown game waiting to happen. Glad that it didn’t happen and that the Gophers remain in position for a bowl game. One to go and we’ll be bowling, which is exciting.

Pretty weird to see a gophers offense that relies so much more on the passing game, but when it works, it works really well.

When you have a quarterback who can throw, everything looks like a pass.

Who was the back up QB who was not Lindsey? Where did he come from? Never heard of him.

I believe he came from VA Tech but I don't think he actually played much, if at all, there. Perfect guy to come in for the last series.

Maryland game planned to totally stop the run and to the coaches credit they had a pass heavy gameplan ready. To Max and the receivers credit, they executed it well. Loved the game with the exception of some starters in that late of a blowout. Hope Joyner is OK.

Brosmer made it look effortless. Big defensive turnovers including a pretty pick 6. Run game showed a faint pulse. Koi on punt returns is doing athletic things. AFAIK Dragan made all his kicks. It was such a laugher I dozed off in the third quarter and didn’t wake up until after the game was over.

Even in a demolition that was never as close as the final score PJ ended up passing on 54% of offensive downs. These are not the same old Gophers.

I’m not defending the pass blocking but Maryland was completely selling out against the run, even after Max had diced them up. Those plays in the backfield were made by good LBer coming straight downhill. It’s part of the reason the pass game was so wide open.

We need to get better run blocking but if teams just sell out completely on the run, we need to keep making them pay with the pass.

Are we sure this is allowed

Interesting....a few years ago, if you had told me that three straight wins over USC, UCLA, and Maryland were actually 3 straight CONFERENCE wins, I would have asked what you were smoking! lol

Huge win for bowl eligibility and showing what we can do. On top of all of the things on the field, coaching was great and looks way different than past years with PJ. A few years ago I could have seen us running twice, getting to 3rd and long, and ending up punting on most drives. Would have been nice to see the run game get going but great coaching to take what we were given.

Not sure what losing that dirty targeting offender meant for Maryland's secondary, but great game plan and execution by our Gophers. Fun to see Brosmer slice and dice along with Jackson and Spencer having big games. WR University has returned.
