Post Game Thread: Gophers lose heartbreaker to PSU

Love the effort and what an entertaining game. Fleck and the offense looked great all game tbh

Looking forward to what we bring to the table next year. Brosmer is the first QB I have ever seen here that looked NFL caliber, shame we couldn't capitalize on some of the closer games this year but I have faith in his ability to return next year to 9/10 wins!
Brosmer is gone , red shirt freshman next year

the haters are such f*cking idiots, you really EXPECT us to win as 11 point dogs?? We get out-recruited bc Fleck is a dumb*ss?? Hell no, it's bc we're UMN and this is our deal unless we graduate a future silicon tech billionaire in the next few years who is sad he had no athletic talent and donates piles of CA$H. This is where we're at and I'm damn proud of our team and head coach.

I’m sad about the huge missed opportunity, but how can you not be super proud of the effort? Anyone who says MN was outcoached is emotionally immature or a troll. Of course I’m disappointed about the fake punt, but the fact you had the #4 team in the country feeling like they had to do that or else lose the game? Hats off on the effort.

I’m doing my best to be that silicone tech billionaire man, it’s harder than you think!

This bad loss might spill over to next week. I hope not. I call it a bad loss because the Gophs win this game without a handful of dumbass mistakes.

I still can't believe they never got the ball back with almost 6 minutes on the clock.

you cant kick that many FGs and expect to beat the #4 team in the country

FG drives preceding 3 downs
1st: 1st and 10 run, 2nd and 11 run, 3rd and 9 run
2nd: 1st and 10 run, 2nd and 8 run, 3rd and 3 run
3rd: 1st and goal run, 2nd and goal pass to LT on trick play, 3rd and goal incomplete

Fleck still has not recruited the talent to compete against real Big 10 teams. Our guys gave it their all, but as long as Fleck is at the helm, this is our ceiling.
Big time talent will not come to Minnesota, they will never get the top 25 teams in the country kind of talent they will win 6 ,7 games a year and.
be in the middle of the big 18

Can't blame the refs, but you can't help but wonder if Spencer scores if they call the obvious face mask on DT the play before.
Corrupt another blown call, typical never get calls when playing teams like this

Heartbreaker? It wasn't like they scored a last second FG or TD, Gophers literally fumbled the win away.

One of the best games in the top 25 today. PSU is pretty talented and scrappy but they’re just that - not in the same tier as Oregon or OSU. Maybe not even Indiana. Probably 4th best in B1G while Gophers are 7-9, which is where you get a hard fought 1 point home loss.
Their coach is the Fleck of top 10 programs.

1) I thought we should have gone for a TD on 4th down with just over 5 minutes to play.
2) The fake punt was an absolute buzz kill.
3) Overall good effort and entertaining game.
I’m guessing they do go for it if it’s closer

Tough to lose a game like that. They had their chances but to pull upsets like that you have to avoid mistakes on top of making the big plays. Unfortunately some mistakes still happened in the form of turnovers and the fourth down fake punt.

Hurts to not seal the deal, I hate they didn't stop that fake punt, probably would have sealed the deal. Also hard to be mad at losing by 1 to a Top 4 team.

Best thing to do is go get that axe, 8-win season still on the table.

Horrible call and the big name teams will always get the calls as it's once again a about having these teams win to get ratings
Comment makes no sense. Penn State will get the same ratings next week whether they won or lost this game. Dumbass conspiracy BS permeates this forum.

The more I dwell on the PSU's last drive, the more pissed off I get. You gotta figure out how to get the ball back even if you let them score. The whole reason to kick the FG with 6 minutes left is it keeps the game within a 1-score game. It's impossible to win without the getting the ball back. Unreal.

We played great! Fun to watch!
But if you want to win you can't have two turnovers on Brosmer.
You need to be aware that they could fake the punt....we seemed surprised.
There's courageous and then there is dumb playcalls...throwing to the left tackle seems dumb.
Lucky it wasn't complete...#11 Penn State would have caused a fumble.

That was a really good game. We just need our OC to keep getting better. Brosmar is a very good QB. PJ still plays too conservative. There were chances to get a bigger lead in the first half. PSU is way more talented with very good coaches. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if we lose next week, hate to say it. This was the game to win. This team hasn’t been fun to watch since 2019. It was sort of fun to watch today, but the O wasn’t good enough again.

Nah. It was a terrible call but they went 60 yards in 7 plays. They were converting that 3rd and 4 and walking down the field for 6.
Disagree. Gifting a penalty like that as you stopped the is deflating.

It's hard for me to blame it on the O when they put up 25 points versus one of the best defenses in the country. The game was essentially over at the 6 minute mark because the defense couldn't get the ball back to the offense.
