Post Game Thread: Gophers lose heartbreaker to PSU

If any consolation, SB Nation at Black Shoe Diaries offers this:

"And what happened on the field was Penn State running into a rested Minnesota team, coming off a bye, that, realistically, could be 8-2 if not for some self-inflicted wounds earlier in the season (and a screw job by the refs as well). That’s to say this is a Gopher team that is likely better than their 6-5 record, and it showed on the field."

Here's the full read:

Posted earlier that lack of consistent high-level play is our issue. Of course after living in Minnesota for 35 years now, yes, the refs screwed us at times too.

Some day, maybe...

It's not obvious to you?
No it’s not, because it’s not objectively obvious, just subjectively to you. PSU was losing for a majority of the game against BGSU, didn’t exactly dominate or light up the scoreboard on pretty bad UCLA and Wisconsin teams, had to beat a below average USC at the last second, and an “average” Goohers team down to the wire. They lost to OSU at home so they would probably lose worse in Columbus.

There was at least one blatant hold on those plays. Joyner specifically was being grabbed and held.
I’m actually glad that Joyner is moving on. I think that he under performs and I get tired of everybody complaining about him getting held. Made the assertion before he needs to quit putting him in self in positions to be held. People thought that was a stupid comment, but it’s true. All pass rushers get held the good ones work through it and still make plays.
