Post Game Thread - Gophers CRUSH Western Illinois. Sound off!

Great day by the offense. Athan looked really good in relief, although hard to tell with no pressure, but I liked what I saw today.

Two soft opponents to start the year but outscoring those teams 50-5 is impressive. D missed some opportunities for sacks but again played really well.

And our offense is finally.....finally.....friggin finally.....fun to watch again. Great to see them not play ultra conservative and instead go out and send a message to the rest of the conference that things have changed. Excited to see what we can do against better competition.

A-level performance on an easy pop quiz. Can't find too much fault. As I said at the end of the game thread, I worry a bit that Morgan keys in on Autman-Bell a bit too much and that might have to change as the season wears on.

Anyone still have questions about the passing offense?

Was at the game. Quick takeaways for me:
-glad to see Mo and Trey looking 100%
-we have 2, maybe 3 good qb options
-o-line looks good
-Howden's interception one of the best I've ever seen

No slight to Cole Kramer, but if you do not believe that Athan Kalikamanis is not the next answer at QB here, you are silly.
Big arm. Nice to see him get more snaps. I have to admit that Morgan looked pretty strong today with his down field throws.

Regardless of competition, would this have happened under the last OC? I don't think so.
Closest thing I could find was Purdue in 2020.
To be clear, I'm a lot higher on Tanner than most fans, I'm just saying for those who are skeptical (which is fair), I could understand why a game against basically a D2 team isn't all that convincing.

I think Howden went for one earlier too, that was a similar pass.

Yes, I do.
We have receivers who has the ball stripped from them. We had a few times where they didn't run a good route or block the defender from getting hands on the ball. There is, in fact, room for improvement. We are not yet ready for the B1G season.

All that said, we destroyed a bad team as we should have destroyed them. That is a good sign.

Well call me silly, but I, for one, do not believe that Kaliakmanis is not the next answer. ;)

Yes. My god, how bad was Sanford?
Last year could have been the year.

The warmest beer I ever had was just cold enough.
Many moons ago during my gap year before going to the U, I worked at a printing factory and a guy who was a lifer there liked warm PBR. Like room temperature. PBR.
