Post Game Thread: Gophers BEAT Bielema!!! Win 4 Straight!!

The win, becoming bowl eligible, and finally beating Bielema were all great to see.

The change in PJ's approach is even better to see and more impactful for the future. Other than some prevent defense earlier on the final drive, he stayed aggressive on both sides of the ball with the lead. He didn't try to force the run or pass and played a good balance, taking whatever was there. When Max was struggling with accuracy on some of the longer throws, he changed the plan and focused on what was working. These were the biggest things holding us back for the last four and a half seasons and it seems like PJ has actually changed.
Don't necessarily disagree with what you are saying but how about giving credit where credit is due and that should go to Heatherman and Harbaugh. Fleck is trusting them and they are both doing a really good job using their personnel and putting guys in position to succeed.

Bitter sweet victory. Really happy we won, but disappointed in our Freshman star. Still not sure he is ready for varsity action.

It sounded like there were quite a few Gopher fans in attendance. I know when Illinois comes they don't travel well. One year they didn't bring their cheerleaders which is unheard of for a Power 5 school.

Go Gophers !!!!!!!!

First regular season since 2005 with 2 wins versus ranked teams. It also happened in 1990 and 1981.
1977 beat #18 UCLA and #1 Michigan. After beating Michigan, the Gophers were rated # 19 for one week before losing to unranked Indiana and falling out of top 25.

Other than that long td run allowed, I thought the defense played really well. Most of the Illini yards were when the Gophers were playing "prevent" defense which never seems to work well.

I thought Striggow was really good today again. There are a lot of talented guys on our D but his effort motor have stood out in most games this year.
Yep, and the cupboard is far from bare I think Howard flashes well when he gets reps he’s going to be a nice player.
