Will Fleck ever win 8 regular season games again at MN? If so, how long will it take?

I should have said with the right OC, or if the current OC develops into a good OC.

Dude. This is dumb. Fleck is a good coach.

We are a liberal University with little support and NIL.

We have an OL.that is the worst in his tenure.

Our star RB is hurting.

Our DBs are too small and slow.

We are lucky to be bowl.eligible.with this team. We will win 8+ in the 2026-2027 year. Just watch

Still possible this year. If we win eight this year Fleck will have won eight or more in half of his seasons here.

If we go 1-1 in the next two this is a top 11 season of the past 54 years

Lol. Fleck is a good coach, but our OL sucks in our CBs suck. Lucky to be bowl eligible and what season eight or nine how does that translate into PJ being a good coach?

Probably because we could've folded but ripped off four straight wins in the conference before dropping a road game against a motivated team. This has been a good coaching job considering all of the circumstances dating back to the Iowa debacle.

I’m not a fire PJ guy, but I just had to laugh at the post. I think PJ has us destined to a stitch above mediocrity, but that won’t get him fired.

The B1G did Minnesota/Wisconsin/Iowa/Illinois no favors by letting the west coast teams in and no longer having divisions.

8-4 seasons are going to be tough to do for all of those programs.

You gonna bet $1k on that?

Then I’ll be impressed😃

Uh, our schedule. Our roster turnover coming into this year. Our coaching turnover as well.

We beat USC. We won at the Rose Bowl. We finally beat Bret B. It has been a good year.

The nc game ending sucked ass.

The 2nd half D against Iowa sucked ass.

The inside kick penalty against Michigan sucked ass.

Our OL against Rutgers sucked ass.

Who recruited the OL that is the worst in Fleck's tenure?

That is why Fleck is not a good coach. He cannot recruit plays to compete at a Big 10 level.

Would’ve been pretty easy this year for a good team. A real top 20 team would’ve easily beat a shitty Michigan and mediocre Rutgers. Make a field goal against Carolina and this is a 9-1 team with two to play. And the team would only have to be as good as 2014, 2016, 2019, 2021, 2022

I think we have 5 teams in the past 10 years that are 9-1 right now

I think it has less to do with liberal/conservative and more with north/south. Most of the football talent is in the South. How many players from the South want to come to Minnesota?

I don't love him but Flecks a good coach at the end of the day. I think what pisses me off is he comes off as a guy that should be a great recruiter but actually he sucks at it. He'll win 5-9 games every year because the B1G is a premier conference and kids want to play against the best. He does a good job coaching them up - just doesn't recruit enough dudes to really compete at the top of the conference. I'm content with the O is more fun to watch now.

B1G Recruiting Ranking Finishes for PJ after year 0: 7,10,9,8,12,10,11. He outperforms those #'s.

As fan for nearly 50 years I’ll say that his recruiting is not bad now. You can’t forget the years of misery before (Salem, Stoll, Wacker, Gutey, some mediocrity with Mason, then misery, mediocrity with Kill, now a pretty good run with PJ.) the current staff. Did any of them in the last 50 years recruit some stellar talent? You think it’s easy to bring players here? Only guy I saw do it was Holtz and man…if Notre Dame didn’t come calling I think he could have built something great here.

Kesich hits the game winner against North Carolina and we have a great shot of winning at least 8 regular season games this year.

Winning a divisionless Big Ten will be a tall task but 6-3, 5-4 seasons are realistic most years and as long as you win your non-conf games that puts you in the 8-9 regular season win range.

He hasn’t even gone 2 years without 8 wins yet…. This forum loves freaking out about any small streak and thinking they’ll last forever.

I know I'm in the minority but if we're winning more than half of our conference games on a yearly basis, even if it's just one above .500, that's good enough for me. Our recent history says we should be celebrating that too. Fleck, whenever he goes, is setting a table of higher expectations for the next guy. It'll be on the athletic department and the school admin to swing for the fences and not make a regressive hire. We should expect greater things right now but should also do our best to maintain some perspective looking at the big picture when things don't go how we want them to. Fleck is pretty great. His track record as coach here is the reason why we're expecting more.

He better, 1 in three years shouldn’t be a huge deal. Don’t even need a winning record in the big ten. 3 non conf and a bowl Gets you half….

IMHO Cal Stoll was better than many think considering the small number of bowl games, higher/ no scholarship limits, and playing in the Big Two - little eight era. Beating: Washington, UCLA, Michigan, Iowa, and Wisconsin in one season (77') is impressive in any era.
