PiPress: Carlos Morris gained 10 lbs since arriving in May; "tremendous passer"

I really wish somebody could answer the question of what weighs more, the fat or the muscle. I seem to recall once reading that muscle weighs more than fat.

I am reasonably confident that a pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle.

Fat can weigh more than muscle if there is enough volume of it compared to muscle. Muscle is more dense and therefore less volume is needed to equal x amount of fat. So given the volume of muscle and fat are equal, muscle would weigh more.

With all the discussion fat versus muscle, is it better to called a muscle head or a fat head?

How many chemistry classes have you taken?

Don't need a chemistry class. A simple scale will suffice. There is little difference between a pound and 16 ounces as well.

10 pounds of pure USDA beef on Squirrel's frame since May is awesome. Should be able to add 50 pounds of pure muscle by the opener and be B1G ready! :)

I had already stopped, but thanks for jumping in. Telling someone to stop arguing about a dead topic seems like a great idea. Your chemistry comment was pretty good though. What I said was clearly in response to furry implying that I didn't know anything about chemistry.

Obviously the debate got carried away, but it was in response to the idea that it was physically impossible to gain 5 pounds of muscle in a month. Hopefully you figured out from the title of the thread that it actually is relevant. Just got carried away, which is why I stopped until you ironically added your "contribution" that actually had nothing to do with the Gophers. Well done.

If you haven't noticed, forum discussions can get a little off topic, especially in the off-season. Thinking that adding an overused pi$$ing contest comment would help the situation in any way is completely idiot.

Yea, and I'm guessing some of us have taken even more chemistry classes than you. Please take your pizzing contest to another off topic thread. Discussions of the merit of diet coke vs almonds is not really relevant to the Gophs.

Not to continue beating a dead horse, but I gained 8 lbs of what I thought was muscle in 5 weeks when I first started lifting weights.

I don't have a chemistry background and I can't tell you precisely what I did. But I started using whey protein for the first time, lifted heavy weights and ate more (all while also running more).

I was 16 and went from 6'0" 170 to 6'0" 178 in 5 weeks. I remember the amount because I was young and dumb and thought I could get to 190 by the start of school. I didn't. But that first month the weight was flying on.

Note, I probably added more calories than the recommended amount and it could easily have been aided by water weight, I don't know. But I know I got into better shape, increased cardio and gained 8 lbs in 5 weeks.
