We played a very good team today and WON. Our O line showed some improvement and the D actually put pressure on the QB. Most importantly, our QB was much improved with a slightly expanded play book. M G still missed some wide open receivers, mostly it seemed because he was rushing, when it wasn't necessary.

Next week we play a much weaker opponent agaIn and this time I expect a much bigger win. It should give the offense a chance to again further expand the play book and I realy hope the game will slow down a bit further for Mr. Gray. The entire D could be imroved yet again.

My prayers for Coach Kill. I believe he's about to witness real solidifications to his team in almost all areas.

It's early in the season, Sagarin doesn't mean much at this point. I don't understand why Miami is so low in Sagarin, they were a good team last year, returned a lot of starters, and played Missouri tough.

...and for ranked when the season started, and is still favored to win the MAC. Sagarin ratings mean nothing until mid-season.

Once again in 2011, the gophers will not respect their opponent when NDSU steps onto the field next week. That's a big mistake when you play a program with as much history and success as NDSU. The bison expect to win, regardless of the opponent. That would be like NDSU playing a DII like Duluth and expecting it to be an easy win.

Clearly gopher fans do not pay attention to any level of football other than BCS conference or they would know that NDSU would likely be favored head to head vs their opponent yesterday. As a fan of both FCS and FBS levels of DI, it is clear that gophers do not understand what it means to be a top 5 team in DI FCS. It's OK, that lack of understanding and respect will serve NDSU well on satruday.

Wow, this is true brilliance. Please enlighten us with more of how fans discussing Sagarin ratings correlates to the team disrespecting NDSU. Please take the Napoleon complex elsewhere, you're a joke.

You must be a ndsu alum, please get a refund for your ploma on "satruday"

I was replying to the initial post that said the gophers would be playing a much weaker opponent this week. Anyone with any football intelligence knows this is not the case. As a bison fan, I would be licking my chops to play that Miami at home.

I don't want or expect anything from gopher fans, but I assume you know something about college football. It will be a great game next weekend, and l look forward to seeing your beautiful new stadium for the first time in person.

"and l look forward to seeing you beautiful new stadium for the first time in person."

Ok, enough, please fire all the English Comp. teachers at NDSU.

This is the deepest of the bison teams that has played in MN in the 2000's. If you are hoping for a MN blowout, sorry it won't happen. I've watched all the games the first three weeks, and it's a tough one to call. I'll give it to MN by 3 for being at home, but a bison win will not be a surprise to anyone who has seen the games. Thankfully for MN, the guy that understands this best is probably Jerry Kill and his staff.

Yet in a previous post you said:

and...

it is clear that gophers do not understand what it means to be a top 5 team in DI FCS. It's OK, that lack of understanding and respect will serve NDSU well on satruday.

Please explain your contradictions. We await your next flash of genius.

That is a good point . . . I should have said fans and media, and not the "gophers". I think the coaching staff, both of them, know what kind of a game it will be. I think the B1G knows too, or it surely wouldn't be at 6pm. The people in the know expect a close game.

You guys might care less, but it's a big game for the bison, especially if we want to be playing at home in late November. A win for the bison would be huge toward that goal. You will get the best effort from the bison.

Coming off a bye week with Vraa the only injury and their bench as deep as it is, this will be a good test for the Gophers. NDSU blew away their two previous opponents. So, they will be rolling into town with a chip on their shoulders.

The Gophers are truly in a rebuilding mode under a new system. Win or loss, the Gophers are gaining more valuable playing experience and will only get better. In three years, we will know how good the Gophers program is.

NDSU's first two opponenents were not much of a test. Georgia Southern, current FCS #1 bought out their week 2 game in Fargo unfortunately.

Ya, that's why I think it will be a very competitive game. The bison are trending up, and the gophers are rebuilding with a new coaching staff. The scenario in 2007 was very similar to the situation this year. The stregth of the bison is depth at LB and DL, with good speed at LB. We will likely have 8 in the box all night to try to keep Grey in control, a tall order. The bison will be working hard on O to establish the run, but seem to have a much improved passing game. The gophers will llikely see lots of man coverage from the bison as we try to keep the gopher ground game under control. Bison corners will need to play big. The gophers will need to throw it successfully or at least hit on some screens to move the ball consistently.

Too bad about Vraa, he was turning into a good one for the bison. We'll miss him on saturday. I truly enjoy gopher football and I hope they climb to the top of the B1G under Kill.

The gates aren't wide enough to allow the egos of the Bison fans to enter the stadium.

MN Herd, I don't think most of us are expecting a blowout. We get it, NDSU has a nice program. Also understand, Gopher fans don't consider NDSU a rival. We never have and never will.

I'm sure we'll get the Bison's best effort Saturday. Whether the Gophers continue to put things together or not, we'll see. May the better team win.

I don't know any Gopher fans expecting a blow out. Maybe in a couple years when Kill has all his pieces in place it should be expected that the Gophers blow out the Sioux, but for now, no.

I am simply sharing facts and trying to make reasonable arguements as to what kind of a game we will have on saturday. Does expressing an opinion that it will be a close game give me a big ego, or is it simply having the audacity to post on this board? Just a football fan talking football, sorry if you are offended. Football is also played outside of MN, and outside the B1G.

North Dakota: No, Mount Rushmore is in the other Dakota. Feel free to stay and sample our meth.

His statement said "Bison fans" not MN Herd. You're going to need some thicker skin if you want to keep posting here. There have been plenty of bison fans posting here that truly believe that they are just a conference invitation away from being Boise St.

Read your first post where you insulted all Gopher fans with a blanket statement. You came here looking to cherry pick anything anti-Bison to feed into your "no respect" theory. You didn't come here to discuss football.

I don't think anyone thinks this will be an easy win. We are simply not that good and I imagine that NDSU is a better football team than NMSU.

However, I do sense a little irony from the Bison fan talking about respecting other levels of football and then talking down on Miami of Ohio. They are considered one of the best teams in the MAC (per experts and Vegas), they are defending MAC champs, they've returned most of their team from last year, and they played 2 BCS teams close. Yet, you are awfully dismissive of them? Why?

You actually did call out Gopher fans specifically:

Clearly gopher fans do not pay attention to any level of football other than BCS conference or they would know that NDSU would likely be favored head to head vs their opponent yesterday. As a fan of both FCS and FBS levels of DI, it is clear that gophers do not understand what it means to be a top 5 team in DI FCS. You act as if all Gopher fans, and particularly the ones on this board (by coming on here and saying what you have), always underestimate opponents from lesser conferences or lower divisions of. If you had read this board at all you would see that, especially now, we don't expect to win on Saturday for sure, and definitely not a blowout. We've seen us drop games to NDSU, USD, Northern Illinois, New Mexico St, Bowling Green, Florida Atlantic, etc in the last 4 years with close escapes against the likes of SDSU. So don't talk to us with your huge ego about how NDSU fans are so much better are exactly why you've been called out by the people on this board.

You also talk a lot about how our team, fans, media, etc has looked down on or not taken an opponent seriously as if you know how they think. Ever consider that there were thousands of other factors at play for why we lost to you in 2007? Poor talent, really poor coaching, a trainwreck of a season with only 1 win where team morale was at an all-time low, new offensive system, freshman QB, many loud NDSU fans present at the dome, and good coaching of mediocre talent at NDSU? Get over yourself and come back with some class regardless of the outcome of Saturday's game.

Hey, I saw the game. You caught NMSU on a really good day, and I mean that in all honesty. But you will really be kicking yourself about that loss later in the year. Maybe I"m wrong and they will have a winning season. I really liked what I saw from their coach and their team. but then they went out an lost to UTEP last week, so the jury is out.

The bison have played a few MAC teams over the years, and had good success. I won't say any more than that, lest I have a big ego. I think the bison could give Miami a good game, but that's just my opinion, you do not need to agree with it.
