Other Bowl Games Thread

Bama says you should have picked us.
No matter what happened last night or this morning, people can find a way to make that argument. It's now "see SMU and Indiana aren't very good". If both played tough games or even won, it just meant Notre Dame is overrated and the Big Ten sucks.

I hope for ASU because their RB is a beast and they’ve got a week off.

I hope this helps people stop shitting on Indiana and the Big Ten.

SMU would lose to IU and Penn State is thrashing a team that went undefeated in the ACC regular season.

I still like it because this is what a 12 team playoff is supposed to do - give flawed 2nd tier teams having special seasons their shot at the big prize. Someday it will be the Gophers. Perhaps the good guys will win a game or 3.

Or just take an easy TD if you make a routine throw. No guarantee they would have gotten a TD even if he made the 1st down. The defender was also coming in quickly to make the tackle. He would have likely gotten the 1st but I think it would have been close with a good tackle.

Jennings has been awful overall, but when you're an underdog on the road, those are the types of risks and plays you need to make to have a chance to win, especially deep in PSU territory at the beginning of a tie game.
Of the mistakes he made in the first that was one of the more forgivable ones. Their D kept them in it for a while but they seemed to wear down as the half went on given they were getting little to nothing from the offense.

PSU dominating helps the Big Ten perception but it hurts the case for the non-helmet schools. So far the 2 non-helmet schools have not looked good.

This Jennings for SMU looks like one of the worst quarterback I have seen all year.
He makes some splash plays but can’t read a defense to save his life and has no anticipation. They haven’t helped him with the play call strategy. Thought they’d throw more quick hitters like we did early but they let the pass rush get to him and now he’s seeing ghosts early and it’s completely ruined their offense

I see he grew up in Dallas, too. People from the south think it’s cold when it’s 60° out. I think he went out there this morning and said I didn’t sign up for this shit and is more worried about being cold than winning a football game. Good on Penn State for securing a home game.

4 was perfectly fine. But agree that 8 (all P4 champs and highest G5 plus 3 autos) was a wayyyyy better format than this shit show
In many years there was a reasonable argument that whoever was #5 got left out.

I don’t think there is any argument that #9 - 12 deserve a chance

I think you do 12 so that you can get to 16, which is where we'll end up. Not sure we'll ever see more then that, but 16 is doable.

Great game up in Fargo. Grant Olson from Wayzata got a lot of TV time as the d coordinator. One of Brewster‘s big misses he would’ve started here for four years. Just didn’t have the measurable’s too short and light to get an offer, but played like a mad dog.

Super interested to see the Georgia and Texas games. I don’t think either Ewers or Beck have played up to their hype this year was down in Atlanta earlier this week and the Bulldog fans are pretty confident that the back up brings a lot to the table. I know – – the back up quarterback is always everyone’s favorite but I guess we’ll see. Will also be interesting to see if Ewers struggles whether Manning gets the call to try and save the day.

Missed most of the SMU/PSU game but from what I saw early in the game, SMU really didn't belong on the same field. Jennings simply isn't very good. PSU gave them chances to get back in the game, but SMU just was unable to do anything with those chances.

ESPN was bitching about the Big Ten last night, but if they were covering this game they would be making the same arguments that Saban and Kiffin made right after the CFP field was named. I hate to say it, but Saban and Kiffin appear to be correct in their assessment.

It looks like burnt hair smells.

That said......reluctantly.....go Clemson.
Texas as an institution is the worse.

Hasn’t won anything meaningful in forever and still fancies themselves a blue blood.

Let’s show the SEC is overrated and we don’t want this to be a chalk only affair.

Edit: I realize they’re good/legit, but they are a naughty lister for me, so the animus is palatable😎
