I don't consider Shadeur Sanders one of the top players in college football. Stat padder from a conference that's barely above the MAC. He and Ward are in the top-tier of draft-eligible QBs this season, but both will be a reach if they are taken in the Top 10.
Definitely not a good year to be a team with a desperate QB need. There will be a lot of reaching in the first round and subsequent busts 3-4 years later.

Yeah....this is a really weak QB class, really glad the Vikings aren't going to be in the market to use a high pick on a QB this year. High bust potential for guys like Milroe and Sanders.

I loathe iowa.

But I do not want the sec to have any bragging rights.

I will not root for iowa, but I prefer they beat an sec team.
Yeah....think I found the one situation where I could actually be ok with an Iowa victory. More times the SEC takes it on the chin the better.

However, I prefer to view it as rooting for Missouri to lose as opposed to rooting for Iowa to win. Makes it a little bit easier to swallow.

And if iowa loses, I hope it’s in a memorable and embarrassing fashion.

This is only the 2nd game between Iowa and Missouri in the last 100 years. I find that kind of surprising.

I consistently cheer for the B1G when playing the SEC and want them to spank the SEC like the little whiny girls that they are, but I just cannot cheer for Iowa. Ferentz acts like he invented the game. Great coach. Just ask him.

Why does Iowa always look like the 85 Bears when they play the Gophers but pretty much any other time I watch them they look like a jr high city league team?

That last play was miserable. Iowa literally stood around confused until Missouri stacked the box to the last detail. They then ran a delayed qb sneak into the teeth of that fully prepared Missouri defense.

Oh, and did you catch the “SEC!” chants at the end?

I was walking the dog. Can someone walk me through the last sequence of plays run by the Hawkeyes that evidently sealed their doom?

First play of the drive their QB ran backwards a bunch before getting sacked. They mostly recovered from that, but had a 4th and 1. Think of Iowa's offense the past few years, and then take that same level of ineptitude and channel it into a QB sneak. That was their final offensive play.

Well, all I know is they haven't beaten a ranked team in a long time. 2019 is the last time Iowa beat a team that finished ranked, and yes, it was the Gophers. I guess they can hang onto that memory. Another reason to enjoy their unfortunate loss today.

Last edited:

8 yd run, no gain run, 1 1/2 yd run, qb sneak for a 1 yd loss on 4th down. With another 5-10 yds, they had a chance at a roughly 45-50 yd field goal

What are you talking about?
1st down sack for -13
2nd pass for 19 yds
3rd pass for 3 yards
4th and 1: they try a QB sneak and MS LB/S times snap perfect and leaps over O-line and they stop him well short

Wasn't that the previous series? If not, my mistake. I too was feeding a dog and apparently not paying close enough attention.

Before today they were 33-0 in their last 33 where they scored 21+

It isn’t just the gophers they look really good against sometimes.

They’re 89-39 their last 128 games

You must not watch them very often if you think they usually look like a JV team. You probably only watch them vs the gophers and the big boys.
