Other B1G Games Thread

Iowa plays absolutely no defense. I hope they find a way to get down to 9-9. Is there any way they could play themselves out of the tournament?

Even if they don't win another game?

They would have to lose to both Purdue and Illinois at home. That would still land them at 8-10 in the Big Ten. If that were to happen.....it would probably be one of the first times a 19-6 (8-5) team dropped from #20 to missing the NCAAs with less than three weeks until SS.

Not going to happen. But they need to start playing some defense.

I can't imagine having OSU and Iowa lose today helping our RPI. Those would have been much better wins until they crumbled tonight against lesser opponents. We really need both FSU and Richmond to end up in the RPI Top 50. That would give MN 5 top 50 RPI wins with the Michigan game still to be had.

If Iowa closes out the season on a 7 game losing streak, I believe they would be NIT bound.

.....but they're too good to lose to Purdue and Illinois at home.

It'll hurt our RPI right now, because we've played OSU and Iowa twice each and have only played Indiana and Penn State once each (we can get part of it back when we play PSU again). And yeah, it'll hurt the perception of two of our three "big wins" thus far. So not good.

There isn't a Big 10 team I feel comfortable playing in the BTT.
It's a crapshoot.

Will Big Ten results this year deter people from 'penciling in' wins and losses?

I feel the same way. Usually there is a team I an hoping we match up against in the Thursday games and hoping we get slotted against for Friday if we win, but this year the bottom of the BT seems much stronger than it has in the past. There isn't a gimmie in the BTT this year.

Go Gophers!!

Go Gophers!!

For sure.

I'm hoping the Gophers get Northwestern in the first round. I don't know why. I feel they're the least likely to get hot and start hitting everything.

Nebraska, Indiana, Purdue, and Illinois all have the talent to beat anyone if they're on.

Gotta go with Northwestern as well even though we seem to struggle against them lately. They are probably playing the worst out of any of the bottom big ten teams. Crawford and Cobb still scare me though. These next few weeks are going to be crazy.

Cobb is out for the season. NW would be our ideal opponent in a 7-10 game, for sure. My next choice would be Illinois. A little revenge motive never hurts, and it's possible the Illini still could be a top-100 opponent.

I do not want to play Indiana in Indianapolis if the Gophers have a NCAA bid on the line. Hoping we stay in the 7 spot & IU is in the 8-9 game.

Those are the tidbits I appreciate picking up on GH.

Illinois might upset MSU on the road. 50-43 with 3 and a half left

Is Illinois a threat to make the dance? If they win out they will be 8-10 in the BIG and have five straight wins against top 50 opponents (assuming MN and Nebraska stay in)

Watching Nebraska. At halftime, they were talking about our game. And I quote... "Minnesota and head coach Tubby Smith..."

Umm....

If they won out and then won a game in the BTT I think they would be right in the conversation.

Iowa blowing a big lead vs. Purdue in Iowa City, What in the h*ll is going on with the Hawkeyes? Every time I think I have the Big Ten figured out, something crazy happens (except for the Gophers beating a quality team on the road).

I can't wait for the Big Ten Tournament. No higher seed will be safe.

Iowa is seriously in danger of playing their way out of the tournament if they drop this game today. This is incredible.

Why did Purdue just foul down 2 with 42 seconds left?

Indiana leads Ohio State 33-25 at half Indiana ended the half on a 21-5 run.

Indiana is a serious threat to win the BTT, IMO. Obviously, that wouldn't help the Gophers' cause.
