So what do people think were the good, the bad, and the ugly of the game?

It is red and white stripe with OassChuuu shirt underneath. I hope Bama kick them to curb at this year playoff.
 





12-game losing streak against OSU 🤮
 

Got away from us late but for most of the game we hung with Ohio State. That bodes well for the remainder of the season because we won't face another team this loaded until the rematch in the Big Ten Championship game.

Mo's injury is a major downer, hopefully it turns out to be nothing long term. Wright looks like he will be very good, especially once we get CAB back. Defense has a lot to work on but want to see what they look like against a team that is more on our level before going overboard about the poor performance.

Reality is that Ohio State is playing on a different level than the rest of the Big Ten right now and we took it to them and stayed in the game.
 

The offense should be fine even if Mo is out for the year.

Defense is not very good. You can say the looked bad because it was Ohio St but the amount of defensive breakdowns is pretty alarming.

No D line pressure, slow and continuously out position LBs and DBacks isn’t a good look.
 

Gophers competed! Very fun to see us answer.
I do believe we will struggle mightily on offense going forward without Mo and it changes dramatically even without the threat of Mo.
 



Felt like a Big 12 game, where both teams put up big points and little defense. (I actually love those types of games.)

Is OSU a better team than us? Yeah, and if someone says they weren't going in, you're delusional and should spend a day locked in a broom closet with Reusse. Not to be a Sid Hartman, but when you put up that many points on a top 5 team that's expected to destroy everyone in the B1G, that bodes well for our season.

Mo getting hurt is the real concern. Hopefully he's okay. This is the risk of putting so many eggs in the basket of one player.

The non-call on the targeting in the fourth still pisses me off. Not just because it was against the Gophers, but that's the kind of shit that the targeting penalty is meant to address. There's no question that it was helmet to helmet against a defenseless receiver. None whatsoever. He didn't even try to make a proper tackle - he just went in with a flying headbutt.
 



D line was not as good as I thought they would be.
I hate the wildcat play now that Seth green is gone.
Morgan still tends to hold it a second too long and stare down receivers (but he was hardly a problem tonight)
Was happy to see Spahn-Ford catch the ball after 3 years of blocking.
 


Man, we could use a playmaker on defense.
 

One play we had Swenson on an island against one of the best WR in the country. Another we were completely unorganized which resulted in an easy screen TD. Then the strip sack TD. That’s the difference.

Way too many breakdowns that led to very easy TDs for OSU.
 


The good: Offensive production and the kicking game
The bad: Defense being out of position too often and the Mo Injury
The ugly: The non-call targeting and the defending of it by Gus Johnson. FU Gus!!

This play could seriously be used as the definition of targeting. It is the epitome of what they were trying to protect players from.

I never truly expected to win the game tonight. Having said that, if just half of the defense showed up tonight we could have won the game. That’s disappointing and encouraging at the same time. Obviously if we have lost Mo it will be a huge blow, but I must admit that overall I like what I saw from the offense. As said above, when CAB comes back it will be a huge boost. Losing Mo would hurt bad, but I don’t think it would be some death blow.
Now, the defense. Where do we begin? We will never see that many quality offensive weapons on the field at the same time this year unless it’s in a bowl game. So they can’t help but improve going forward but I’ve got two hot takes. One, the fact that Swenson and Rush are even on the field against Big10 competition when the game is close is so concerning I can’t come up with the correct words to express it. Second, I don’t want to hear anymore talk about Mafe and how much of a freak athlete he is. Give me a player less talented who makes plays.

We gave up a ton of big plays and still had Ohio State within a touchdown with less than 6 to play. I saw nothing tonight that tells me we can’t still win the West.
