Outkick is reporting Buckeye ad, with blessing of OSU president, is trying to organize a 6 team big ten season. Would be a home and home with each team with no big ten championship game. Reporting that presidents from Nebraska, Iowa, and Penn St. are already on board. Working on Michigan and Wisconsin to get to six.

They need a 7th team so everyone plays six. Maybe Minnesota to keep the Wisconsin streak going?

Because you say so? Or because the information you have is different than those whose lives, careers, and livelihoods actually depend on it and maybe, just perhaps, they have been planning, and planning and making contingency plans for every perceivable outcome for weeks and weeks and are confident in their ability to move forward safely?

Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren on Wednesday released an open letter to the conference community stating that the vote by the Big Ten's Council of Presidents and Chancellors was "overwhelmingly in support of postponing fall sports and will not be revisited."

"The decision was thorough and deliberative, and based on sound feedback, guidance and advice from medical experts," Warren wrote in his first public comments since announcing the league's decision on Aug. 11. "Despite the decision to postpone fall sports, we continue our work to find a path forward that creates a healthy and safe environment for all Big Ten student-athletes to compete in the sports they love in a manner that helps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protects both student-athletes and the surrounding communities."

Link inserted. Am a bit surprised that espn isnt reporting this but is reporting Warren reiterating his position. Could be becausr this report is a nothingburger or perhaps espn has a more self serving reason?

Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio St., Wisconsin and Penn St. When was the last time Nebraska had a winless season?

Let's hope this doesn't happen. A college football season in which some Big Ten teams play (especially Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska) is a doomsday scenario for the Gophers, who almost certainly would sit out.

Minnesota, along with Illinois, Northwestern, and Rutgers, will be the last schools to play.

It would set the program back years.

I would never, ever root for a young man who has spent his entire life preparing to play on this stage and made numerous sacrifices along the way to not be able to play college football. Even if the Gophers were the only team in the B1G to not play, I would support the other 13 teams in their endeavor to play a season. It's a terrible thing to take that away from these young men who have dedicated their lives to playing the game.
 



This is ludicrous. How are they going to get enough revenue to hold the games? They can't sell the tickets to fans and the B1G holds the licensing right for the teams and has contracts with the TV networks.

Just because you want it to happen doesn't mean they should do it.

It said a 6 team home and home. Why would they need a 7th team to get to 6? Play the other 5 teams twice each is 10 games.

Good point. Without butts in seats they are reliant on TV contracts. The B1G can and would use those contracts to quell the rebellion. Unless the rebels also drum up a massive rogue TV deal in the next couple weeks there's no chance because it would be a huge money loser.

Yup Gus, I missed the home and home part. Still, I can’t imagine watching the Badgers and Hawkeyes play without us. It would be a worse feeling than the entire B1G not playing.
 

In another open letter released Wednesday, Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said some teams could be back to competition in 2020.

"While a decision has been made by the presidents of the Big Ten Conference to postpone the fall season, we view this as a temporary delay, and (Ohio State president-elect) Dr. (Kristina) Johnson has directed us to prepare for the possibility of bringing at least some of our fall sports back to practice and competition by the end of the year," Smith wrote.

"We are actively planning for the winter and spring seasons for all sports, including the return of football."

They haven’t been flocking to him since Memorial Day, have they? He needs to be able to sell excitement. Sitting out while Wisconsin, Iowa, and Nebraska play wouldn’t be very exciting.

He’s been recruited by our new DL coach for a year, and has been around the program for most of his life. How many decommits since the riots?

Dude, I’ve been one of his biggest supporters since he was hired. I’m a realist. It’s obvious recent events have proven to be a bit of a stumbling block. Sitting out while their main rivals play would be the last 3 months X10.
